It's been almost ten years since a person introduced me to Castadenism. I'm not calling it nagualism, since that's a complete neological fabrication, under which someone can do significant harm on one's psyche. So, writings of Castaneda are a platform for mind control and abuse. As such, they are particulary attractive to psychopaths. I had the misfortune to tell all my beliefs, not based on fiction but based on sincere childike curiosity, to such a person. In turn, that person told me everything about "nagualism" and introduced me with Castanedism. You can already see how this put me in vulnerable position, and put him "in the control" of my own phenomenological faculties. Besides hallucinations, I've experienced psychosocial and personality changes that were completely different from my baseline personality soon afterwards. I, off course, interpreted this as "exploring my shadow". If you had similar experiences, go see a psychologist IMMEDIATELY and break any contact with such a person. This has nothing to do with spirituality. It's an outdated psy-op meant to control hippies. If nothing else, you can take from these patterns with which you can potentially recognize more sophisticated psyops.
Fun fact: I found this guy on a gay dating site. It was supposed to be a date, but turned out to be a cycle of psychological abuse and suferring. I found later that he still had a boyfriend and was trying to replace him, which produced guilt in me and opened even more ways to fall under his influence. My normal tactic with abusive people usually is to understand and surpass them, but that didn't work in this case at all, and when it worked, it eroded my soul, and that's precisely what they wish for the cycle to continue.
I'll throw a snipped of exposition: J curve is meant to severe your connection from the memories with your mother in the vomb and connect with the perpertrator (via so-called cocoon), so your energies of love, attention and phenomenology can be manipulated more easily. Another snipper: a "flyer" is your mind. It's not a discarnate entity, it's a memetical lobotomy.

The stated purpose of this subreddit is to aid in restoring the reputation of Carlos Castaneda and the knowledge he imparted, which means we are sticking to what really works, as proven by direct experience by long-practicing members. We need to make clear our intent to move away, as a community, from the mistakes others have made. Content that is at-odds with this purpose will, upon review, be removed.
You're right about bad men using Castaneda for bad purpouses.
But you're understanding is still very poor, and you wrote strong conclusions based on ordinary facts.
That's harmful for the community. Keep studying in the subreddit to learn about the real thing.
I wouldn't say my understand is poor. I didn't intend any harm for the community, and defensiveness is what I would expect from anyone trying to "escape the system", however, all I'm pointing out is both the suspicious past origins of the said literature, and current experiences of people who would settle right on top of such teachings when disseminating them. That person is seriously mentally ill, so I'm not condemning him, as I would never condemn anyone; in fact, he became very agressive because he was not able to control what I say (which is a red flag both in a relationship and a community where any sort of power structure is present). Regarding my first sentence, I studied both theology and philosophy and communication sciences, so my understanding from the academic pov is quite informed, on spiritual matters, propaganda and reporting. From practical point, I know enough that I do not want to practice it, even though I got into wonderful friendships and aquintances due to it. So, I'm not talking about individual energy work, but relational harm from ill-informed sources, hierarchies and vulnerable, intimate states - and some parts of castaneda's work open such venues.

Each individual ought to make their own sense according to their own faculties, therefore I'm not responsible for someone else's sensemaking. The context is very much clear and historically accurate so I'm sorry if I provoked in any way your feelings. And I met this person after my studies, so it's quite an invalid argument.

Uff the last line makes allot of sense. From experience i can say that the method your using to provoke them is quite poor. Maybe practice sorcery before "provoking" them, so that you are able to perceive the "fruits of your labor"
