I have tried to read almost every poat within this sub reddit because Unfortunately I dont have litterally aby money for a few more days to buy the books but i want to begin practing this but ftom what i've read it seems like you only get "magic" when you are in a sate of hyperawareness and you a just a regular person after so i jusst want to know do you gain tangible magic power that can be used in real life I say real life meaning the actual physical worldv where your physical body exist

Would “teleportation” count?
Or “Jedi Mind Tricks.”
Invisibility?
Extra appendages?
Hyper-mobility? As in jumping or running?
And other niche capacities that I’m not recalling right now…
Anyway, if any of those is your primary reason to pursue this, not only will you not achieve those particular abilities, but not much of anything else either.
Because you’d have a dirty link with intent, since using intent that way, for self-preservation, is awfully close to egoism.
Much better to learn Krav Maga, or some other modern cross-disciplinary combat system.
Yea i know but ive pretry much have fantasized about having supernatural abilitles everyday of my life for 20 years so im tryng to reverse this and not expect anything and just stay slient but the day dreams overpower me most of the time
Part of the issue is that sorcery is so all-encompassing, that the way you pursue it, your motivations, spills over into everything else in your life.
I mean it’s intertwined with the way all of reality is constructed! The source.
Not so with a combat sport.
Let me re-phrase not violence just can can handle various situations like if you were in danger you could just "leave" the danger so to speak
Then yes!
In the books, Carlos asks Don Juan what would happen if there was a landslide on the mountain trail they were walking down. He tells him that he could move his assemblage point fast enough to escape the danger, but that Carlos we be flattened.
If you live and act flawlessly like a true warrior, you should not be in such a dangerous situation. and if you happen to find yourself in such a situation... As a flawless warrior, you will come out of this dangerous situation like a figure skater... the spirit will arrange it... no violence... On the contrary, faultlessness, moderation and humility.
I was a total marvel comic books nerd during all of my years.
So I'm familiar!
Personally, I like to think that because everything we've ever read or been actively exposed to (engaged with) is present, unconsciously, that it gives more fuel or options/ways for our energy body to creatively express/act.
Eventually. But you'll be a very old man by then.
In the meantime, you get "gifted" with stunning magic nearly daily if you work steadily.
Some of which magical gifts could be used the way you suggest.
But you can't repeat anything.
So one night you walk through a solid wall, and then think you've really learned something useful!
But you can't do that again. Because now you're "expecting" it. And sorcery works through a force called "intent", which is at least 20% "expectations".
You had none when it happened, so now that you have them added, it cannot be repeated.
Except, something even better comes next.
You just have to allow the "instruction" to flow to you, with no hope to turn any of it into "practical magic". That's stuff you can repeat, to gain an advantage in your ordinary world.
Don Juan was asked if the "Five Fingers of Death" blow could actually be done by sorcerers.
Where you strike someone and they did tomorrow.
He said yes, but anyone who could do that, wouldn't.
Anything else you're thinking about is likely something you're going to misunderstand.
Sorcery is in a DIFFERENT reality.
You shift to it, to change how reality works.
You can't force someone else to follow you. You might trick them into it, but that would take a lot of effort and nearly intimate knowledge of the person.
In their normal state, they'll simply refuse to perceive anything odd that you've learn to do.
But, you can in fact use it in amazing ways!
Lift a car in one hand. From shapeshifting into a huge beast.
I've done that.
Cholita the witch can lift me up 2 feet into the air with one finger.
She's done that 3 times now.
I'm not sure what you're saying about the books. They're free in pdf form. Just ask around. You'll have all 17 books and publications.
Everything in here is free. If you're buying stuff, you've made a mistake.
And probably won't ever learn.
I didn't see the free pdfs only the list of books and yea i figuried it would take a while right now im just foucusing on trying silence its really hard because i have a very over active imganation and also have read alot of fiction so sometimes various movie or manga scenes begin to play and then it just becomes what if i could do this or that
The thing about the pdf with all of the books is, Techno is trying to make both that, and the collected workshop and lecture notes, perfect.
They were scanned in, so they're a huge mess.
And if he gives out intermediate copies, he'll contaminate what's out there for new people, forever.
It's a quandary...
I put "Silent Knowledge" up on Archive.org if you're interested.
Didn't put the others, so as not to interfere with what Techno is doing.
His efforts will outlast all of us.
As for Manga, it's an excellent source of "practical magic ideas".
Often you can do what they have, for magic.
It would simply be a big waste of your time.
But you could do it.
I'm not sure if your referring yo the books here but they where all transcripted into .epub files.
Here is a .epub merger of all the books, it has all the images, formating and chapter bookmarks intact and can be searched super fast:
https://fastupload.io/RICUg4AYwF0PNVZ/file
You will likely need to download software to open it if you haven't already but there are good free epub readers for every platform.
I converted it into a .txt file as well for pure searching:
https://fastupload.io/s6sxz5KTHN0M607/file
The Site above will only keep the files for 30 days.
I Included silent knowledge, readers of infinity and stalking with the double even though they might have been converted from PDFs by archive.org.
But if they were i imagine that the archive.org pdf reader is quite a bit better than what is in consumer software, I have read through the books without issue.
And a .epub or .txt is a lot faster to search than a PDF.
@TechnoMagical_Intent
Absolutely! Which is why I'm going to release our version in ePub format as well.
Eventually. Here's another ePub that someone (?) put together, but it doesn't included Reader's of Infinity, Silent Knowledge, or Stalking With the Double.
So Kudos! What program do you use for working on, or creating ePubs? That info would be very useful, as LibreOffice has a built-in converter (from *.odt files) but the heading are always messed up in the output file.
Looks like the one you linked to is derived from the Ukrainian/Russian scan job, as a few of those odd non-official illustrations are still present, replacing the official cover art (for some reason).
And there are still no illustrations included for the book Magical Passes. And it's missing a few of the extra introductions that Carlos wrote and that were only included in the Spanish language editions of some of the books. And the headings shouldn't be expanded like that by default, as it makes navigation difficult.
But it's not bad for searching 👍
Most importantly, in all files that are sourced from the pre-existing scan work that's floating about the internet, nobody has gone through and compared that text with the original paperbacks and hardcovers. I've found 4-5 missing paragraphs and other errors in the first 4 books alone.
https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/comments/17zywml/comment/ka2tixj/
I just checked, The file dose have the magical passes illustration.
Is the First one the Russian scan job with bad images? It was the most suspect one and I haven't read the first two so I would not notice any substantial errors, there are alternate copies I could find and use instead.
I would hope that the version that amazon are actual proper transcripts and that good version are out there, but mabey they are scans.
I will look and see if I can get all the books with the covers amazon uses at the very least.
As for tools I don't have a pc rn so I just used:
https://www.ofoct.com/merge-epub-files
From my phone to merge them, however calibre can edit epub files quite well.
Sigil (with PageEdit as a GUI) lets you do "surgery" on an ePub to correct errors. I've had better luck using it over Calibre.
No, I meant the figure illustrations throughout the book that detail the individual movements.
And no, there are no substantial errors, apparent. Just minor ones.
But that's how entropy starts...
Here is a version with all the amazon ebook versions that are likely superior:
https://fastupload.io/TMamHMH5Wn5spR0/file
Txt conversion:
https://fastupload.io/b7jPre7iaFIMZ9U/file
They have covers like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Journey-Ixtlan-Lessons-Don-Juan/dp/0671732463
I managed to find them all except for "a yaqui way pf knowledge" and "the wheel of time"
Versions of both are included though and I changed out the copy of "a yaqui way of knowledge" for what I believe to be a better version.
Magical passes and the art of dreaming do not have a amazon ebook.
And the only one of the witches books with an amazon ebook is "The witches dream"
Also by magical passes illustrations do you mean the ones like these:
https://imgur.com/a/EvkyuO6
Because they are definitely there and showing up in both files on my device.
An improvement! And yeah, it's stupid that those books are not on Amazon Kindle, but are released on Audiobook🫤
These are 4 successive pages in that ePub you link to.
Example Page 01
Example Page 02
Looks like only fig. 404 is present, and very low quailty. Here's a page from file I'm working on:
That's definitely higher qualitiy but there is either something wrong with you epub reader or some image caching weirdness on my end as I have triple checked that I am looking at the right file and that images are there.
Either way, I'll still link to that (or another) file you uploaded (once it's in Google Docs) as it's the most complete ePub I've come across.
I'm hardly seeing any figure illustrations at all in Calibre's reader, same sparsity in the EpubPup plugin in my web browser, and about the same lack with Adobe Digital Editions.
