Post prompted by someone (in here) looking for a mantra to help them with disrupting the internal dialogue.
It occurs that it would be a shame to dilute the mood of sorcery with stuff from other traditions, which would carry another mood and lead to a different place.
In the books Carlos puts in italics key words and phrases, words imbued with the Intent of the (New) Seers. For instance: Stalker/Stalking, Dreamer/Dreaming, Will, Intent, Controlled Folly, Restful Vigil. To name a few from The Eagles Gift.
In other places, the Spanish is given, for instance, Ensonar, which is the sorcery act of dreaming.
In the Eagles Gift, Silvio Manuel gives an incantation, which Carlos states is because he is concerned with practicality (pg275). In other words, action and not theorising.
Practicality being the art of Stalking, ritual non doings: for instance, making things like ponchos for gazing and dreaming. Making the crate, the list, and performing the breath and head movement for the recapitulation.
Practical because it is functional, useful, and not to do with talking or attempting to think ones way into things, but for rounding up Intent, leaping!
The incantation is:
I am already given to the power that rules my fate.
And I cling to nothing, so I will have nothing to defend.
I have no thoughts, so I will see.
I fear nothing, so I will remember myself.
Detatched and at ease ,
I will dart past the Eagle to be free.
Following the English, the Spanish is given, suggesting that the Spanish might be useful to use in merging with the intent of the sorcerers who set it up. It is not given for academic interest but as a practicality. In other words, it can be contacted and entered.
The first two lines demolish self concern. And the following lines continue to lead deeper into the sorcery intent, no thoughts so see, no fear so remember myself ( the double/ the totality).
Each line might be called/ incanted, out loud ( which uses more energy) or silently in the mind (less energy expended), as a means to progressively shift into silence. Perhaps whilst engaging in tensegrity. A sound and a movement. When the assemblage point starts to move then it will be easier to recapitulate, do dark room etc.
Also, the words of power/intent could be hammered into heavy copper rings and worn as an aid for silence (like the rocks for silence), Ie Ensonar etc. Containers for Intent, made as a non-doing, stalking silence with words of power.

Your post is an exact copy of what the Castaneda community did in all these years.
Use the beatiful words of the books to create fantansies. None of them wich included something real going on.

Do not idealize the Spanish language. I'm Argentinian, so it' native to me.
It's not an advantage. We've also looked on the spanish speaking community, and they are all messed up.

I have in fact been having a wonderful time with real magic, even the struggles are filled with purpose, so I love it. 30 years since my first castaneda book and I have proved the truth of it over and over.
On the way I have been scared by it and found no where else to go!

It occured that I should probably respond to a post I read by Techno-Magical_intent. Because his question stayed with me and probably because of some mental masturbation on the subject? But perhaps also intent.
So im trying to learn how to post if I have anything to add from my own experience of real magic for the benefit of the community.
The post was not about me but was based on my experience.

I'm saying, your focus is not right.
So even if you haven't posted for years, we need to clarify that for new people reading.
It's in fact possible to produce magic through mantras, but no one really does.
Or we would had seen it somewhere in the net.
People goes fully into pretending and fantasizing with such stuff.
Only visible magic ends up with that. Like in the J Curve Diagram.

I agree that sorcery is not about fixed practices. In fact I am not at all focused on mantras.
Also I do understand that you are providing clarity for new people, you also provided me with a jolt :)
It was intended as a comment about the use of a sorcery incantation as a small step in moving towards silence.
What was posted was not intended to take away from the main practice of dealing with visable magic as described in the dark room practice.
Personally, it has been recapitulation at nighttime that has made all other practices more reachable, and that is ongoing. But who knows how it all works, i just get on with it without knowing if I am doing it right or not.
I am not interested in pretending as at 51, I feel the press of time passing quickly. If I want entertainment then I get it without pretending that its magic.
What is called Intent is the main love of my life and I am happy that it consumes everything and I am just glad to have found it, or for it to have found me. So I have wooed it and it comes to me every day.
The last thing I want or need is a book deal or anyones' approval. That is exactly what I have been burning up in the recapitualtion.
I know that it is persistance that seems to count. And a hint in the right direction. Castaneda and the earth gave me that.
And I journey with Allies and can enjoy other worlds, so I really need little attention here. And I don't do drugs or need them for any of it.
But I do care about Castanedas' works because it is because of him that I have cut through alot of bullshit that the world presents as an alternative to the real thing.
I dont even know why I chose to put the effort in to write at all today, but for some reason I have, so perhaps there is a purpose.
The one thing that I see as a problem is what you mentioned here (a jolt).
The poem gives a jolt when read together, but not when you analyze every single line as an independent, meaningful thing.
Don Juan talked about liking poetry for the jolt that it gives, not necessarily for the meaning of it.
The idea of reading a line at a time seems counter to the message in the stories regarding poetry.
The jolt I was referring to was what I felt when Juann commented that the post I sent was mostly mental masturbation, and that is for me to deal with.
No head explosion. No drama!
But it does illustrate the difficulties of trying to understand each other with words!

No, but the jolt doesn't come if you read the poem line-by-line.
That's what I'm referring to, it's not as useful as the way it is intended in the books the way you are suggesting.
You can't get the jolt from the poem by doing analysis.

We usually get new people writting nonsense based on their own feelings about sorcery, and that's harmful.
We need beginners to follow specific instructions, but there are SERIOUS attemps to deviate the attention from that.
As if they invited others to join their pretending club.
We also have groupies in here, who didn't figure out how the J Curve works, but still hang around without posting.
They are respectful and don't interfere with the purpouse. Some will soon learn.
Better to find yourself real magic. So you don't have to wonder if it's ok or not to post something.
Real magic is beyond blue zone fantasies. The internal dialogue needs to fully stop for at least a minit.
So when you are actually seeing it, your own ideas of the world don't interfere.

I did have a weird success on facebook!
Some bad player who was hanging around for years, constantly in need of chastisement to keep him from harming others, just fessed up he was running a 1000 person Castaneda cult in Brazil.
Admitted he now knows he was harming all those people with his make believe.
I'm still waiting for Armando Torres to "confess".

I guess their followers were never actually chasing sorcery.
Because even when they knew nothing, there should be a bit of common sense.

Even when practicing alone, with no phony nagual around, we still have to be honest with ourselves.

I shredded my tarot deck and sold every "spiritual" book in my collection.
I also got rid of Tarot and stuff like that from my childhood, mostly because I seemed to pick whatever I wanted from the cards, which did not lead me to anything useful.
And yes the incantation is offered as a means to help break the fixation of the self, as a beginning step, which is dropped as one moves deeper. In the end it's about Stalking which provides a steady jolt and 'small' movements of the assemblage point, that add up.
But this has already been covered by Dan so did not need repeating. I was just pointing out that people don't need to look outside of the books for such material, as there is plenty provided, without looking at sanskrit mantras. For an English person to use Spanish might provide an additional move away from familiar inventory routines.
Anyway, the response was interesting.
It's not intended here to take away from any instruction about Dark room, but beginners shouting 'be silent' at themselves is not the only way to approach things (i'm not knocking it, whatever works :)).
So I hope that others wont be scared to share from their own experience, just because the post I offered was given a 'spoiler'.

Less lengthy, my brain is simple.
This old crazy Indian guy at my work says something that has become the only mantra I need - "Don't worry, be happy." It might seem corney but when you hear this old man saying that to you, in response to whatever slight complaint or MAJOR complaint you mention to him, you just bust out laughing. It is so funny. No matter the situation, it calms the mind. Those four words hold a lot of power. Give it a shot!
