Sound as a tool, newbie questions

I'm fairly new to the practice, I have however been experimenting with lucid dreaming and silence before. (The latter one due to Krishnamurti and with little sucess)

Stumbeling across the gateway tapes/hemi synch and the effects of frequencies/drumming on dreaming I was wondering if there are practices related to sound and music.

There is listening to the sounds of the world. You should drop the other stuff.

Fair warning, Carlos is described as practicing for two months doing "listening to the sounds of the world" in the books (and silence is still the base of the practice again).

This practice that Carol detailed at Sochi comes to mind, toward the bottom of this post:

In the earlier books Don Juan gets out a bullroarer and "listens" for a second attention echo, and he also directs Carlos to listen for the "holes" in the sound environment.
