Hello. Though I have experience with the spiritual, I am totally new to this particular branch (or perhaps school?) of magics and the esoteric. That is, I've only discovered this several hours ago, through a mention of this subreddit on a 4chan board. Despite my complete unfamiliarity with anything like this, as the phenomena mentioned here are completely unlike anything I've ever seen before, I've tried my best to do as much read and understand as much as possible of what has been posted.
The 4chan poster who made mention of this subreddit (and the field of esoterics it touches upon) explicitly stated that one could use the powers gained from these practices for actual, real, physically effective magic. That is, magic that can affect the real, physical world around you, and that could be used for personal gain (or any other physical goal). Reading everything posted here has revealed to me that's either not the case at all, or perhaps more accurately not the point. Apparently, the practices described here are expressly for achieving (for lack of a better term) a kind of gnosis. That's fine, everyone has their own wishes in the end, but is kind of disappointing to me since it's a let down from what was originally promised.
All of this leads me onto two questions:
- Could anyone please clarify if these practices (if trained to a sufficient degree) give the ability for one to create overt, significant physical effects? If not, then I will move on.
To clarify, I'm not asking for proof. If I receive a satisfactory answer, I will put in the necessary hours and get the proof myself.
- Knowing that this subreddit is not for discussion of magic and physical effects from the magic, but rather achieving a non-physical transformation through usage of the magic, could anyone please direct me to an online website or community that practices something similar but expressly for practical magic and the physical?
I have tried to find answers to these two questions via searching through the subreddit, but to no avail. If this has been asked and answered before, I apologize, but I wasn't able to find such posts.

I’m sure more advanced members will chime in and give a better answer but here is mine.
This entire question is based on a misunderstanding that there is a physical world apart from you that you are trying to effect. The physical world around you is only the way it is because you talk to yourself in your head in a certain way and funnel your awareness through words that were programmed in you as a child and which have pre-programmed intents and understandings of reality implied within them.
So not only can you achieve real world effects, you are going to be transcending this entire delusional version of reality and realizing their are infinite ways to interpret the dark sea of energy around you.
There isn’t much talk about physical gains because ya not at all the point. You are realizing it’s all a delusion. You can be the optimal version of yourself though through removing internal dialogue. The smartest and most vital you can be. Practical magick is probably just completely delusional pretending, but maybe a more advanced member disagrees. We are communing in a hub of rationality and there are rules here that we have agreed upon with our internal dialogue. If you want to be free of those rules then get rid of your dialogue and go to new worlds but here I believe it doesn’t work like that.

The reasoning behind the questions stems from my lack of knowledge and no idea of any overall evaluation in the first place.

The sorcerers are all described as incredibly healthy in the books. Shapeshifting into a different physical form is possible. If you’re worried about money, just sell the stuff you learn here to the government. And besides that I’m pretty sure a lot of the lineage was absolutely loaded with cash. From what I’ve read Dan made millions using sorcery to solve engineering problems with Nintendo cartridges, other people have used sorcery to get them through college. If that’s not practical I don’t know what is.
Yes and no. It’s really hard to answer your question, because Castanedas teachings are deeper than Doctor Strange type of magic. It’s a model that describes reality. “Magic” is just a way of interacting with that reality outside of how modern humanity is interacting with it.
And how is modern humanity is interacting with it? It filters raw information and builds a world for us. I am talking about beyond social constructs type of world building. Like literally your everyday reality, including social construct reality and self obsession/ego. You can “feel” the world building mechanism when you take mushrooms.
Here is an analogy: humans are like radios. The universe is a sea of radio waves. All of the humanity except for a handful of people are on the same wavelength/radio station. There is a way to shift those stations that gives you an opportunity to interact with other realities and manipulate “this reality” in a very strange manner to the extent that outsider will call it magic.
So going back to your question. Yes, it is possible to influence the “physical world” in a way that it will be considered magic.
But to get there, you need to forget everything you know about this reality. To the extent that it will change you so much that you wouldn’t be interested in influencing physical world.
In other words, you need to give up being “human” to get to that level. Once you are at that level you won’t care about physical world.
Fundamentally this is bigger than “magic”. Even when you say “physical world”, in the context of Castaneda what you call physical world is just a radio station, one of many.

Changing worlds in your physical body waits for you, if you ignore possible practical magic along the way and set your goal as the purple zone.
Practical magic is red zone.
Once you have 600 worlds you can live in as a result of mastering Silent Knowledge, the idea of practical magic in this one seems almost pointless.
As others have said - the entire standard concept of the physical world is massively uninformed and collectively reinforced by the population (humans who have severly undeveloped/underutilized faculties, which are the result of uninformed/inconplete belief structures of reality).
Beliefs -> Thoughts -> Emotions -> Behavior
Everything here is about digging into the subtle, the automatic processes that have been giving you an incomplete picture/perception/understanding of reality.
The results and power acheived by this far surpasses anything you are even conceptualizing about affecting the physical world. So yes, of course what you seek is acheivable with the power and perception you can acquire here - but the bigger point is you will be so much more informed and aware about reality thus most likely other effects that you garner will get you attention instead.
Bro this place teaches sorcery that let's you enter dream states so you can hop into alternate dimensions and interact with iobs (spirits). Yiu use this sorcery to transcend this plane of existence. If you want to do magic for personal gain then you would probably do best searching through chaos magic and learning about psycho drama and making sigils etc.
It's been a month and I'm starting to enter into some sort of blue room where weird shit happens. None of it has been any good for personal gain.
I had the lights start flickering in my apartment as a result of an interaction with an IOB sent by a sorcerer.
When the technician for the building came in, he made a comment about the box after he removed it from the ceiling being damaged in an usual way. He pointed out to me that one single strand of wire was lifted to touch the inside of the box (which probably caused some type of short).
Also, that same day, while I was working on something I noticed that my apartment was sweltering hot, because my space heater was turned to maximum. This requires several button presses in order to reach that setting, so it wasn't a result of me bumping the unit for example.

I don't think there is too much to expand on. We mutually agreed with each other that he would send an IOB my way, and a few days later, stuff started acting extremely weird. There was also a crazy feeling floating in the air, fitting, given that he is quite crazy too.
All that can happen in sorcery is via intending it.

Might get roughed up for this reply/comment, but this isn’t magic like David Copperfield; it’s perception/awareness and a type of technology, closer to quantum mechanics as humans are luminous beings that can hack reality to see what’s really around. Not sure how the word “magic” crept into CC’s work. The term “sorcery” fit coming from the lineage and IMO a better fit than “magic” if you don’t view sorcery as something scary dark and satanic….
Anything can be flipped into personal gain. You need to read the books and then come back here to learn and see how these folks have advanced and thrived with this tech.
