Maybe I do not remember it from the book. I just know that women are si powerful in raw terms compared to males. Why werent them the leaders/naguals?

Or were they?

They were, in direct partnership with the male nagual of the group.

And it's implied that most of the old sorcerers, the ones WAY, WAY back in pre-history....were women.
