I’m here for the haul and I am taking y’all with me. Haha I am posting in the hopes that I can help others who haven’t made steps and are seeking. If you want to live vicariously through me, I’ll give you my honest feedback. In the pursuit of the nature of reality in all things and some comments have asked me to report back. (All feedback and constructive criticism is welcome).
This book basically starts an Anthropological journey of a professor Carlos Castaneda into inquiring about the Yaqui Sorcerers way and in it he is taken into apprenticeship by Don Juan (the OG). Don Juan opens by testing Carlos and Carlos experiences a non-ordinary or special state of reality. He sees a change of peripheral color cloud swirls while looking around the room for a spot known by his higher self to be his spot of ultimate comfort. Carlos through intent and focus finds his spot when his peripheral vision turns indigo. (I have seen these indigo clouds with closed and open eyes when I focus on nothing, inner silence).
Afterwords 3 plants and rituals are used and are introduced as allys to help a man on his pursuit to become a Man of Knowledge.
After, Don Juan uses real magic and manipulation of reality which Carlos takes as he’s losing his mind, but Don Juan is showing him that non-ordinary states of reality and reality are bridged and much closer than one thinks. They are not separate, but overlayed. Don Juan began to hint at the ability to find a gap or breach between the realms and use the breach.

Suggestion: don't make up your own definitions, just don't form any ideas about it at all based on what you think you know. The words "higher self" are not used in any of the books.
Instead of making a whole new post, maybe let the people who you were talking with know what you found interesting. There are people who have read the books dozens of times and we aren't going to encourage people just posting quotes or summaries of the books anymore.
We want to hear your successes in practicing, not in reading.
If you're not practicing yet, you should be (at the same time as reading).

that’s fair. I understand your meaning. I don’t know what you have or haven’t had happen here. I will only discuss practical matters and the content from Castaneda.

This means that we are sticking to what really works, as proven by direct experience by long-practicing members.
