These two unique pendants stand-out from the other designs you'll see of similarly carved jade pieces. Most often the dichotomy is on the theme of life/death, with a skull being used in one half to depict this....or a were-animal face in transition (but not usually, or ever, just HALF of the face; rather the entire face in transitional features).

Quote from The Fire from Within:
"Don Juan also said that among the many errors of judgment the old seers had committed, one of the
most grievous was moving their assemblage points to the immeasurable area below, which made
them experts at adopting animal forms. They chose different animals as their point of reference and
called those animals their nagual. They believed that by moving their assemblage points to specific
spots they would acquire the characteristics of the animal of their choice, its strength or wisdom or
cunning or agility or ferocity."
That sounds a very mysterious, until you can do it yourself.
That's really just like saying they moved to the deep red zone, and then shapeshifted in the form of the animal they chose (admirable to select the form but not hard to shapeshift), and called the result their "nagual".
But it's YOU, not a separate entity.
You are shapeshifted.
I suppose you could claim it's your double, which runs around in dreams, but that guy doesn't really have any shape at all, unless you look for it.
Otherwise, it just perceives dream worlds and doesn't get a good lock at its own form.
And if you bring your double into the world (which is fairly easy to do with darkroom), it ends up taking a "blue ball of energy" form ultimately.
So it's not the same thing as you, shapeshifted.
The several times I shapeshifted, it would have been really odd to give myself a new name, in that form...
It was just me, but with a different body or size.
And you do have their attributes, but only while you can hold your assemblage point far sideways.
Later on, when you get back, the whole thing makes no sense at all.
I'm not even convinced someone else would perceive you in your shapeshifted form.
I went outside and lifted Cholita's car in one hand just because I wanted to look under it.
Awake!
There wasn't anything about it indicating it wasn't real.
I even hurt my bare feet on some sharp rocks Cholita put on my path.
And got cold walking on the lawn she'd been watering for 24 hours.
But it's hard to accept that someone else would have seen me lift the car in one hand.
It's likely more like when Carlos and La Gorda were on the bridge, doing magical things, and suddenly there were no people around.
And when the magic ended, people resumed walking across the busy bridge.
Don Juan "explained" that "the Nagual takes care of that".
So don't anyone go "genuine" Yaqui on me here... Like our new person insisting our sorcery is not authentic Yaqui.
As if we cared! It's real magic.
We aren't going to spit it out and go "Yuck! That's not genuine Yaqui pudding!"
Native american analysis of what happens is based on never having actually done it themselves, except using drugs. And even then, they greatly exaggerate since their goal is human attention, not actual magic.
The real thing is very real.
But later, makes no sense at all.
Perhaps because the old and new seers both had someone else pushing them into these states, they got a more "concrete" opinion of the situation.
A more "clear boundary" experience.
But if you have to do all the work yourself, your reaction will be more like in my posts, where you just sit up and watch the Nagual, once it becomes fully visible and stable, and mostly just enjoy being worry free for a while.
No need to go "Yin/Yang" like the Chinese did, which caused them to end up making up nonsense to match their idea that everyone has an opposite.
The Nagual is so different, it's not in any way the "opposite" of anything in this reality.
And it's never the opposite of anything out there, in another reality.
I don't like to use the word "frequency", but since Carlos used the word "vibration" to explain the path he found to live forever, the Nagual when experienced for a full hour, stabily, is an endless series of "profound" revelations and visions which come with someone or something explaining them to you.
But not always audibly. That's why it's called "Silent Knowledge".
You "know" what you're looking at.
But all of them are at a different frequency, and inapplicable to the last cool thing you saw.
Though sometimes you DO get the voice of seeing!
That's a "favorable position" of the assemblage point.
Which are very rare. Unfortunately.
Expect to go a full week, daily viewing Silent Knowledge for a long time, before you get a favorable position of the assemblage point, which makes it very concrete and thrilling.
It's like star gazing.
You don't get to see a very meteor shower streaking across the stars, every single night.
From chapter 12 "The Strategy of a Sorcerer", of Tales of Power (1974):
"Why the right half?" I asked.
"That's the side of the tonal" he said. "The teacher always addresses himself to that side, and by presenting his apprentice on the one hand with the warrior's way he forces him into reasonableness, and sobriety, and strength of character and body.
"And by presenting him on the other hand with unthinkable but real situations which the apprentice cannot cope with, he forces him to realize that his reason, although it is a most wonderful affair, can only cover a small area.
"Once the warrior is confronted with his incapacity to reason everything out, he will go out of his way to bolster and defend his defeated reason, and to that effect he will rally everything he's got around it. The teacher sees to that by hammering him mercilessly until all his view of the world is on one half of the bubble. The other half of the bubble, the one that has been cleared, can then be claimed by something sorcerers call will.
"We can better explain this by saying that the task of the teacher is to wipe clean one half of the bubble and to reorder every thing on the other half. The benefactor's task then is to open the bubble on the side that has been cleaned. Once the seal is broken, the warrior is never the same. He has then the command of his totality.
"Half of the bubble is the ultimate center of reason; the tonal. The other half is the ultimate center of will; the nagual. That is the order that should prevail. Any other arrangement is nonsensical and petty because it goes against our nature. It robs us of our magical heritage and reduces us to nothing."
Implication: The old seers screwed themselves by merging the Nagual into their world view of the Tonal. They were after super powers, so that they could compete with others.
But we won't see this situation of a tidy division, as described here.
We're explorers, not apprentices.
So there isn't going to be such a division.
And that "warrior's way" thing almost destroyed our community.
It's too easy to pretend that, and never get around to doing any real work.
I was gazing at this just now, pleased the nagual showed up in just seconds tonight.
And realized ("saw") something most likeky impossible to explain, despite it being so simple and obvious.
I guess some of what we might end up seeing,, using sorcery, comes from a complex interaction of all the activity in this subreddit floating around as trace concerns during silent knowledge. Those direct which emanations are active, and if your mind is very silent, those "below verbal" influences in the mind, are not so dramatic that they prevent magic from forming.
So we had the possibly Yaqui person visiting, trying to "set the record straight" that Carlos was a fraud and this wasn't Yaqui magic at all.
As if anyone other than those who only read the first book, ever claimed that.
More damage from inventory warriors I suspect. They not only harm themselves, but our whole community.
But they do provide some cover, since angry attackers go after the shiny object.
And there was the topic mixed in there, or why religions exist. Why people do vehemently defend total nonsense, to the point of mass murder.
I'd also picked up concerns over "where Carlos went" from trying to use the final spanish language interview Carlos gave, in my third attention cartoon.
So here's what I saw, that caused me to stop practing just now, despite looking out into infinity and finding it quite pleasant.
You can't be motivated by religious urges, and succeed at learning real magic.
The only motivation that will work in our situation, is the magic itself.
If you're after "saving yourself" after death, that's an admirable goal.
But it won't help you actually get your lazy butt into gear, to do all the work it takes on this path, to achieve that.
In the lineages, they didn't even bother to appeal to that motivation.
They just tricked apprentices, using whatever the apprentice was really after, which in the case of Carlos wasa a "genuine native american informant who knew how to use power plants by the traditional methods of their tribe."
Which is what enraged the potentially Yaqui visitor.
(continued)
We got "corrected" the same way a Christian might find some group that they believe is competition, and "correct them" on their teachings, explaining that all emphasis must be eon Jesus.
And not on praying to get a new appliance.
That actually happened! Two "leaders" arguing over total religious nonsense.
One, call him the "Cleargreen purist" was arguing you have to focus entirely on the Saint leader.
The other arguing that it was ok to pray for wealth and prosperity.
Meanwhile, both were totally miserable beings, unhappy all the time, but so far stuck in the mud of the river of filth, that they had learned to ignore their own suffering, with bad habits they hid from others, on the side.
Like my famous Zen master of LA, who pretended to be wise and enlightened, and even got angry if challenged on that.
And when he died at 104+, people claimed that was proof of how wise he was.
Except it turned out he was a serial rapist.
Which is even worse at 104 years old, if you're the victim.
So back to what I saw...
The motivation of an apprentice is largely irrelevant.
But certainly, the quest for some afterlife is utterly useless.
Better perhaps, but only slightly, is the quest to earn a living, while practicing your chosen form of magical system.
(continued)
Thus the lineages of the new seers, were not only magical systems, but also business enterprises.
La Gorda for example, was a miserably washer woman.
Not something you want to be in Mexico.
Josefina was crazy.
Both were automatically pulled by the group of people who could give them a place to live, which was dependable.
I have Cholita for that reason. She has nowhere else to go.
But for learning magic, the motivation of the person learning doesn't really matter, as long as they stick around, and actually do the work to learn.
Any other religions delusions that might hold them to a system, are not suitable for learning magic.
It's possible to learn what we need to learn, namely to move the assemblage point, based on anything at all but the motivation to see the results.
Outside the lineages of course. Those had a powerful sorcerer tinkering with the apprentices, based on "seeing".
I guess, in our case, inorganic beings are even more important, because they use the lure of real magic, to entrap humans.
But they're a bit of a catch 22, because in order to use them, you already have to have one. If you don't have one, the possibility to get one is next to zero.
Not that it actually us next to zero. Just that, you won't put in the work needed if you don't know the benefits of the reward.
So it still gets back to, in our situation, if you want anything other than the magic itself, you're doomed.
Can't learn. Because you don't really want that.
Doesn't matter what people say in their initial posts.
It's clear they aren't after magic, but approval for knowing some, which will give them status in a group they perceive to be potentially "superior".
If they don't get approval, then they accuse us of being the "mean kids club".
The only motivation they can conceive of, for not being willingly accepted, just because they're eager and try to kiss butt properly.
Doesn't do any good to point out the only viable motivation to learn magic in here.
A desire for the magic itself.
Since there's none elsewhere, that seems like it ought to be enough.
But it rarely is.
I was confused whether I should post this or not, especially because it only happened once. However the theme and comments of this post made me feel like posting it.
This happened around 1 month ago.
I did darkroom tensegrity (eyes open). The following passes: passes for silence, passes for recapitulation, masculinity passes and 2 of the passes for dreaming (loosening the assemblage point and pushing the assemblage point downwards).
Sometimes as I sit down in the darkroom I'll stare downwards at a 45 degree angle. I do this because it sometimes helps me with forcing silence while also helping me rest.
Well, after doing the passes, sitting down and staring downwards at a 45 degree angle my vision flashed. As if a red/purple spotlight was on my sight. While staring, it was as if there was an enormous red/purple foggy glass filter on my sight. Suddenly there were two dog paws on the floor. This made no sense to me, because my head seemed to still be human, because I was wearing my darkroom mask.
I stayed sitting down without moving, but after seeing the dog front arms/paws, it was as if I knew I had the torso of a dog and was a dog sitting in the floor. I stayed there sitting after realizing that for around 7 seconds. Then I stood up and removed my mask, and turned the lights on entirely as a human. So it was as if I realized I was part dog, then as I decided to stand up was suddenly human?
