Last night I had a record number of dreams where I found my hands.
I have been setting the intention to “be aware of falling asleep”, “be aware of dreaming”, and “find my hands in my dreams” for a couple of months. Around the same time I had been started doing tensegrity. At first, just the series for silent knowledge. But then I slowly started adding the other series from Westwood.
I still wasn’t able to dream, which was a bit discouraging.
Nothing had happened for a while and so I opened myself up to Intent. I got a sign that I interpreted as needing to do recapitulation. I’ve been doing daily recap for about a month and tensegrity in earnest for a couple of months, all the while setting these intentions to be aware of falling asleep and dreaming.
Earlier this week, I finally had a dream where I was lucid. Whenever that happens, I usually remember to find my hands. I don’t know if don Juan was joking when he suggested this technique to Carlos, but I pointed my little finger at the entities in this dream to see whether they would fade away.
They didn’t fade away, so then I tried Dan’s technique of staring at a detail on the entity. Again they persisted, so I concluded that they were IOBs. I asked them for help. They said, what do you need help with? And I hadn’t really thought about it, so I answered, with dreaming.
Then last night I had maybe four or five instances of dreaming. I was able to find my hands each time. I even attempted the second gate of dreaming — willing myself to appear at another point in the dream. This didn’t work.
I’m pretty excited about this experience! It feels like my practice is finally paying off. It also feels like there really was IOBs in that earlier dream and that they really did help me to dream.
And this doesn’t have anything to do with Carlos’s practice, but one of my dreams had a really cool concept of a futuristic elevator —
It looks like a bottomless shaft. You step off and actually free-fall for a beat. Then the outer square platform blasts up, matches your speed so you feel no impact, and smoothly slows you to sane elevator speed. Walk past that edge, you free-fall again; the middle band does the same catch-and-brake. Step onto the last gap, brief free-fall once more; the inner square syncs with you and eases you the rest of the way. Think three-stage, self-arriving elevator floor.

You dream when you do darkroom, even if your results are limited. It is entirely possible to see dreams on the puffs. I have woken up from a dream that I was just having, and I saw a puff in front of me, which was a perfect continuation of the dream.
Re: Second Gate
"When you feel you can gaze at things indefinitely you will be ready for a new technique. I'm going to teach you this new technique now, but I expect you to put it to use only when you are ready."
Follow steps one by one!
Thanks for the response! And good reminder to follow the steps one-by-one 🙂
As long as you're finding your hands, you brought a good amount of tonal awareness along.
That's the goal. To merge the two forms of awareness.
If it's just an ordinary dream, as indicated by not remembering and being able to consciously look at your hands, and then at an object in the dream, back to your hands, and repeat, then it's no use on the path.
If it were, children would all become sorcerers. They have far better control over their dreams, because they don't really even realize it's different than being awake when they're really young.
I used to believe dreams were like our backyard. Where you can play. Except that while awake, I couldn't find the door to it.
But life wears children down and any skills they develop in sleeping dreams are ridiculed, so that they fade away as their internal dialogue rises.
Naturally, anyone practicing sorcery should take advantage of a dream where they realize it's a dream, and have enough rationality to look at their hands!
No one would discard such an opportunity.
But in the waking world, you can learn to sit up and gaze at an endless stream of fully visible dreams to choose from, any of which you can float off into, completely awake.
Oddly, that still doesn't make you more likely to find your hands in a sleeping dream.
Possibly, to accomplish that you have to get the actual dreamer interested in it, by constantly thinking about it in your awake version.
Like the way you can watch a movie, and then that night your dream contains elements of the movie.
The dreamer "got interested".
That's likely how you can develop your ability to find your hands in a dream, to where it's multiple times every single night.
Get the dreamer interested in doing that, and then when it starts to dream of it, your tonal rationality can take over.
Dan, is "after death" too late since we will have lost our life force and can't enter the 3rd attention. Or is there another path?
I'm not sure what life force is, or rather the technology of life force. Seems the Death Defier didn't loose it.
I suppose you could claim the glowing purple puffs were "life force".
But so are the dark energy puffs from inorganic beings.
We don't have the answer to that question.
No assemblage point to use to light up all of the emanations at once, and thus perhaps, no 3rd attention?
And it gets worse than that.
In that final magazine interview, or maybe it was in the collected lecture notes Techno has, Carlos said we'll all have to face infinity on our own.
Or was it eternity?
So there's no cozy "group think" to soothe yourself with, in this system.
Cleargreen turned Carlos into Jesus, and teaches he'll be waiting with open arms, when you die.
To lead you across the pearly bridge gates.
If it bothers you, do what Cholita does.
She's catholic.
Magic is an entirely different topic.
I picked up one of her potential spells last night, before I realized what it might be.
All I was thinking was "Now what is this doing here?"
I suppose I'll have to see if anything happens.
