I've come to realize why the apprentices of don Juan got up early, to gather sunlight glitter from the sunrise. Or was it the sunset?
Either works, and this picture shows why those situations are preferred.
Nothing mysterious about it!
As for why it works, I suppose you could say that it produces an overall light you'll see in the dark, so that when the second attention is visible, it's as if someone cranked up the brightness on the magical sights.
It's drastic once you can reach silent knowledge, and very nice all along the J curve as long as you've left the blue line area where your assemblage point is up at your shoulder blades, and no magic is visible.
The books said the sunlight glitter can be used for dreaming energy.
I don't know if that works when you're asleep, but who cares? You'll never get anywhere until you can do your dreaming AWAKE.
In a sleeping dream, for all we know sunlight glitter produces hamburgers everywhere.
Wouldn't be any sillier that way.
Awake, it produces VIVID CONCRETE sights.

Here are some choice bits of information uploaded to the Discord Server in the last few days:
>Idk if this could help. I was just taking a stroll and its getting dark. There was light pole on i could stare directly at it, as i was doing so i could make out glitter and rainbow colors emitted from it, and i don't think its powerful on the eyes to bother you. Hopefully.
Do you use a hat when engaging with the sun for this technique or when you breath the sun inside with closed eyelids (it is another technique but I don’t recall in which book) that has for me exceptional results?
There was a warning to always wear a hat and I follow it respectfully
I only do that when I missed the sunrise. Which means as a result, that the sun is quite strong and I have to look up more than normal.
And so far, a hat doesn't really seem to help in any way. You can't block anything if you have to gaze right at the sun.
I'm not sure why the women in the books thought a hat could help, but more than likely they were worried about tanning their face.
And maybe they only wore the hat to get to the mountain ledge where they did that, and it wasn't actually associated with blocking the sun from the face at that point.
I suppose the hat might work if you cut a slit in the rim.
Korean women in my area were the most bizarre hats, to try to avoid darkening their face.
Cholita worries about that too, and it's totally an obsession in some Asian countries where if your face isn't as light as possible, people assume you're a "farmer girl".
Meaning, not as valuable as a woman who's family isn't involved in farming at all.
El sombrero es por proteger la coronilla.
From what?
That's what happens when you never got any of it to work...
You start using stuff from other systems, as if that applied to the real thing.
Que otro sistema?
Sure. That's why delusional swami's wear a turban.
Several religions claim you need to cover the crown of your head.
And back around 1997, there was plenty of bizarre outside stuff being sold between students, and coming from Carlos.
For instance, dno't hyou remember women refusing to drink ice water in restaurants?
That's a hideous Chinese fake medicine believe that women have too much "yin", so they can't drink ice water.
Ups! No bebo agua helada jajaja
Me hace sentir mas comodo.
I use a cap while gazing at glitter from the sunset, it helps you "narrow down" or stabilize that sunlight easier with the brim of the cap or hat. Just like the eye lashes in a way. It just feels more comfortable.
Nah in this case that is not a thing. Except if Carlos or Don Juan was messing with everyone like a Discordian Pope and having used all other occult systems and found out what actually works :)
There is a passage that DJ warns that you must protect the top of the head from the sun. It was in his first books and I did not know if this came up in the workshops.
I understand the reason CC told you not to read his books anymore and I understand that maybe you don’t remember this, but for years I had only the books and such details stuck.
Certainly I never saw Carlos, the witches, Carol, or anyone in his "inner circle" protecting the top of their head.
And even more importantly, if there's a reason we'll notice it some day.
Since this magic actually works.
But until then, doing things like that causes people to pretend their results.
Which is what nearly caused us to lose all this wonderful magic.
Fair points here. The rare photos I have seen CC even in the open space, doesn’t wear a hat
Revista Times
I have seen that. But he is in a closed room and not in contact with the sun isn’t he?
Except, a wide brimmed hat does NOT protect the face.
In fact, it makes no difference at all.
That's the problem. I do that daily, and the hat is useless.
And Taisha NEVER wore a hat... Worse, she cut her hair short, so it was even less protected.
So in the end it sounds like they're just worried about getting tanned, and not looking as good.
It is explained in Taisha’s book why you need to use a hat when you are out in the sun
I hope someone posts that. As far as I can tell, there's no danger from not wearing a hat.
Especially since you can use artificial light.
And it would be a bit silly to put on a big floppy hat, to use your led flashlight.
Ups!
I'd still ask why...
I don't remember reading about hats in the early books of Carlos.
Although, the cover art had don Juan wearing a hat.
I'm looking for any advantage I can get these days, since anything that works, becomes obvious in SK.
It's no longer a guessing game with a lot of pretending. It either works, or it doesn't. So you don't have to go around with a floppy hat for long, just to test if it makes a difference.
I've almost verified some other obscure reference from the books, but I'll need a few more examples of it, to be sure it's actually a useful tip.
Maybe random light can "erase" previous efforts to store it up?
By "blurring the sunlight glitter"?
I suppose I could test that, but I've got too many things going on.
Any sorcery test you do, uses up some intent.
Which, if it sounds mysterious, is NOT.
A good example.
I'd like to search for Cholita more than once or twice per night.
As it stands now, I get 1 or 2 "videos in the air" of potential locations for Cholita in Mexico.
I can't alter that, because deliberately looking for her at my low skill level would "smash" my ability to do it at all.
Because "wanting" to find her, is not a simple thing. It contains entire pages of information to explain why I'd "want" to have my own enemy back in my home.
Information you can't just erase from your consciousness, because you believe you're a "superior Zen master" who can ignore or pay attention to anything he likes.
We'll all big messes of trace thoughts and worries. Otherwise, we wouldn't have a need to recapitulate or pay back debts.
And Asian "masters" are the worst of all for having absolutely no control over their consciousness.
So to attain a "single concern" while out in the purple zone, isn't something I can yet do.
All I can do is force my internal dialogue off so well that I fall asleep for an instant, but remain awake with my eyes open, and then some "trace concern" summons silent knowledge.
Perhaps the very same way watching a movie on Netflix can cause you to dream you're the human robot from the movie, being chased by machines.
“Volvió a comenzar como un cosquilleo en la coronilla, y bajó por mi
espalda hasta llegar a la región umbilical: en ese instante supe dónde vivían.
El cosquilleo era como una capa protectora, una suave, cálida, hoja de
celuloide. La percibía físicamente, cubriendo la zona que va desde el pubis
hasta el reborde costal”.
“Tenía que ver con el cosquilleo en la coronilla. Don Juan me había
That agrees with Taisha's explanation of the connection/gate from the crown to the double.
Maybe that's a feature of someone who was dented by the Nagual's blow, so that when they get some magic to happen, it's a big surprise and comes with all sorts of strange sensations?
I have a friend who discovered a skunk living in his backyard, and practically jumped out of his skin.
Meanwhile Cholita LURES skunks to live in our yard, so when I run into one, I just say hello to it. Like it was just another bewitched cat.
If you have to crawl all the way to where things start to happen, as we do, the tingliness is distributed over hours, or at best, minutes.
You can't feel a tingle if it's stretched out and takes 10 minutes for the same amount of "tingles" mentioned here, which took only 10 seconds.
I don't like those quotes, because they encourage pretending...
We got a few bad players who were all "tingly" on their first attempt at darkroom.
But I'll keep an eye out for that fiber that comes from the top of the head.
Carlos gave us a magical pass to stimulate that point.
There are two different issues: one is to gather sun glitter (in the Second Ring of Power he describes how all of them sit to do the sun gazing, moving the head, using hats to be able to control how much light falls into the eyes and it is mentioned by La Gorda in other passages) and the other is what Taisha says about protecting the crown from direct sunlight:
[after doing some breaths with the sun]
I sat down feeling giddy, as if I were happily drunk.
"The light of the sun is pure power," Clara said. "After all, it's the most intensely gathered energy there is."
She said that an invisible line of energy flows out directly from the top of the head, upward to the realm of not-being. Or it can flow from the realm of not-being down into us via an opening at the very center of the top of the head.
"If you like, you can call it the life line that links us to a greater awareness," she said. "The sun, if used properly, charges this line and causes it to spring into action. That's why the crown of the head must always be protected."
Notes: "realm of not-being" probably refers to the nagual and "greater awareness" to the double. "Springing it into action" probably means accessing the double.
Wow, that's entirely different...
I'll have to learn to sustain SK outdoors and view "videos in the air" using the sky, before I have any chance to test out that "crown filament" that can charge up.
But I'm still having trouble sustaining SK in perfect darkness. Each time I do that a few days in a row, something happens to knock me out of it.
Such as Cholita not coming home when her plane did.
Isn’t this the case for most agricultural societies in the world, though? Maybe in the West this way of thought was superseded because of the French Revolution, technology and modernization. But it seems for most of the agricultural civilizations, not toiling in the soil was considered a symbol of status.
Isn’t like 95% of Taiwan Han descendant? Does that have another meaning than the ethnicity? What does that mean.
Anyway, I’m curious what would be a sorcerer-model for a hyper-inclusive, post scarcity, star-trek, universal-basic-income, technological society. Star Wars seems to suggest politics will pretty much remain the same in the future, but… in space???
AI will lead to socialism that actually works.
Honestly I’d love a political system that allows me to spend all day in darkroom and sleeping.
However, I’m not sure distributing wealth would instantly remove all the people in a person’s life that will expend enormous amount of effort to drag those interested in sorcery back into the river of shit with them.
It seems that even trying to get a life situation where you can sit in a dark room for hours, staring at your sports mask for blind people (???) is a form of semi-stalking the self.
It's also very difficult to get yourself to stick to the path faithfully, even without the outside people.
It's our "lifestyle".
We just don't want to change it.
Maybe once you can literally walk off into another world, like going for a nightly walk in your neighborhood, we'll start to behave in a normal manner relative to being motivate to reliably practice each night.
But seeing amazing magic reliably, still won't prevent you from thinking about cutting your practice short so that you can finish that NetFlix movie you were watching the night before.
It's odd...
You’re autistic but you’re probably one of the most social people I’ve seen.
How come you’re a sorcerer but still interested in social interaction?
I don’t see the point in it. Maybe the orange zone allows you to partake in it with zero self-pity?
But although the idealization of a lifestyle might be a common deterrent, I think that’s not the major obstacle in my case. I type that from experience and observing myself practice consistently for some time, with successful results.
I think my major fear at the moment are IOB’s because… they’re like incorporeal, super-powerful, humorous beings? It’s like humans but without bodies that can move your assemblage point. I also speak that from experience that IOB’s are overwhelming.
I feel like it was explained in the book: he was wearing a straw hat, which is knitted from straw and has lots of little holes that let the sunlight in. I used a knitted hat in the picture, it's something similar.
https://imgur.com/a/g1vVG9G
That would work just fine and you wouldn't tan.
There's also this possibility, although you'll likely get arrested if you wear that daily.
from my experiments this past summer, this is true. I was gathering sunlight glitter during sunset instead of sunrise because that's when i do my daily walks.
My sleeping dreams went full blast retarded, i didn't know wtf was happening, they became ultra vivid and bizarre. I never bothered to go lucid because sleep time is for sleep you know, but if i wanted to i know i could have. because i had full functioning thinking and experiencing the dream. i just never bothered to look at my hands or do the "wait a minute, I'm in a dream!" thing that the lucid dreamers do.
or i guess i should say i had full control of my thinking, i just didn't bother to get control and power of my physical like don juan says to do in the ixtlan book.
anyways, from my experiments all summer i figured out that you can gather sunlight glitter wearing sunglasses when the sun is super intense like around 11am to 5pm. after that you can just rely on your eyelashes. I could also gather sunlight from it bouncing off of stuff like a full bucket of water or chrome metal when the sun was at it's apex. I used cheap $5 sunglasses, not expensive ones with the UV coating and anti-reflective coating.
sunlight glitter plus recapitulation is a pretty much guaranteed way to get dreaming energy. I just recap whenever i have a face to face human interaction or anything that gets me emotionally riled up. Because of this i get these stupid ass memories pop up and I'm like "wtf i dont' want to recap that, i just want dream juice for tonight."
recently my dreams have shifted where i would hear myself snoring and realized my body fell asleep and i'm awake so i have to wake it up. I've also had the " I'm asleep, I go into a dream, I wake up in my bedroom, realized it's also a dream, go back to sleep and re-enter the dream i just left. this started happening when i started the recapitulation series and the decision passes.
It's also when this Female popped up, she just stands in front of me and makes full eye contact. She'll guide my dreams and can give me a handshake to make me lucid. I thought she's a succubus or iob trying to get my loosh. She's very random when she pops up.
I have no desire for freedom, i enjoyed the messed up dreams, but this shit was kind of getting out of hand so i stopped again. don't worry dan, i'll eventually awaken my double, just give me another 2 years. :p
About 10 years ago, I practiced SunGazing. I studied it in great detail, both in a historical context and by studying the experiences of current practitioners...
This practice was widespread on all continents, but it was practiced mostly by priests, and in some regions, the death penalty was introduced if ordinary people practiced it...
At the moment, there are not many people who intensively practice SunGazing and publicize it, but some of them are frauds who just travel around giving lectures and making money.
As for my practice, I came to this method intuitively, and only later, when the Internet appeared, did I meet people there who actively practice SunGazing.
I trained my eyes so that I could look at the sun with my eyes open at any time of the day, and I did it everywhere... on the beach, in nature, in the city (I'll say right away that people generally don't pay attention to it and don't even guess what I'm doing).
It is very dangerous for ordinary people to look at the sun with their eyes open without instructions on how to do it correctly... I noticed one thing: the more spiritually pure a person is, the easier this practice is for them.
People who have been in prison and those who lead a negative lifestyle find it most difficult to tolerate the sun.
As for the effect of the sun on a person who practices SunGazing, there is no clear answer. I talked to some practitioners, and they all had different effects and their own motivations for doing it.
However, some practitioners who listened to fraudsters about the benefits of the sun experienced the opposite effect, which worsened their health and mental state.
