I have been having strange experiences since I started writing a book. I have been obsessed with Carlos Castaneda books for the past few months. I read almost all of his books after college and I’ve been going through them recently, mainly Wheel of Time and Ring of Power and I noticed some things Don Juan said that really stood out to me for no particular reason. One day I was falling asleep on a couch and I was thinking of a few specific lines from one of these books I could not remember which one. I had a feeling that I was in extreme danger and someone was trying to protect me. I had just read an article about a leukemia drug that had side effects on the liver and my mind kept relating everything to that. The next day I was thinking about heavily and It dawned on me I was talking to Don Juan or one of his friends. I was convinced he was trying to tell me Carlos had been in a lot of pain, I think he was blaming me but there was nothing I could do about it.
I started writing a journal to help keep track of all this because it seemed important. Not much came of it until I found a Harold Garfinkel book called The Program of Ethnomethodology at the library. I don’t know why it stuck out to me so much but I checked it out and while flipping through a Castaneda book one day I realized that the book was from Carlos Castaneda’s Anthropology Professor. It was a huge awakening for me. I realized that I had been wrong about a lot of my understanding about his books. I think my experience was a way of me trying to understand that he was a messed up person who took advantage of indigenous people. He got very lucky and because of his success a lot of this damage became just part of the deal. I realized my dream was my mind trying to understand a a joke from the perspective of Don Juan or a Yaqui person and that the suffering I imagined was just the sense of humor I had been developing from reading those books. I really recommend these Ethnomethodology to people who are classically trained in philosophy. It’s a very useful book to develop critical thinking for those of interested in global cultures.
Then Don begged Carlos before he abandoned his path and he ate Genaro. After Journey to IXTALAN I had purchased the rest of the series. After reading the last page of the series I am now so heartbroken I refuse to read another book. The german people had been very interested in the cannibal sacrifices of the Aztecs and mayans, i think it was clearly revenge for Yaqui code breakers. This community has an obliga tion
