This seemed utterly hopeless to post about, even though it's the most interesting magic I've seen in months.
But the picture turned out ok! A bit confusing to beginners perhaps, so let me explain.
When you stop the internal dialogue, you're sort of doing what happens when you fall asleep at night. The internal dialogue stops because you are asleep, and your awareness begins to go into your double (the guy running around in dreams), who starts to perceive endless other realities, so as to interact with them.
It "frolics" in dreams.
But if you stop your internal dialogue while awake, hopefully doing tensegrity in darkness to make it easier, your double gets curious and comes out into the real world.
That's your "energy body".
So you get a glowing puff floating around, your ally up by the ceiling trying to scare you with some new trick, strange organic surfaces on the floor, and too many other magical effects to list here.
Technically, that's sleepwalking. Because it's our own way to produce the effects of "The Nagual's Blow", and don Juan himself explained that when your assemblage point has moved like that, you are in fact asleep.
Which is kind of obvious, since dream objects begin to surround you.
That is NOT THE SAME as full on sleepwalking, as demonstrated by Genaro.
As I recall he even walked on the ceiling in that state.
So if you aren't walking on the ceiling freely, you likely are not fully asleep.
But you could be!
This post actually started for me last night when I began to fall back while sitting on something in an infinite hotel room (one of Cholita's favorite places), and realized I was fully asleep and still moving around my room without being aware of it.
I worried I would crash onto some furniture, but a voice said, "you planned for this. Don't you remember?"
And my back fell onto my bed. I had positioned myself safely in case I lost balance.
I tried to remember when that happened, and all I could find was the hotel and two women teaching me how to do that. It's a breathing technique.
Friends of Cholita, was my suspicion.
Who is still in Mexico.

Can you teach that technique, or is it one of those things that only works for very advanced people?
Everything I remember was just an effect, not a cause.
There's causes, and effects.
And trying to use the effect (in this case a specific calm breath), thinking that can induce the cause, is a huge misunderstanding.
In some ways Carlos and the witches were handicapped because they were taught using the Nagual's blow, so that many things they could think of to use for teaching, might simply be an effect instead of the cause.
In this case, the "technique" might be to breathe like you are asleep, with your internal dialogue completely shut off.
But that breath is an effect of being asleep, not the cause of it...
Perhaps a better way to pull this off is to be obsessed with doing darkroom all day long by shutting off your internal dialogue all the time. And looking for stuff from the second attention, in your daily environment.
You probably won't succeed.
But you'll obsess your sleeping dreams, and if there's a conscious entity hanging out with you in there, it might "push" you out in the sleeping state, in order to interact better during your practicing awake.
Or because it's a sorcerer or witch and sees you could hold it.
We all come out of sleeping dreams with our assemblage points moved to favorable positions once in a while.
But this is a case of not waking up at all, and going directly to sleepwalking.
It felt a bit dangerous at the time, when I lost my balance and fell backwards, and was saved by the bed.
But then, little kids commonly sleep walk and do all sorts of things, fully asleep.
When I’ve held silence long enough for my AP to shift it’s amazing how dreamlike everything looks and feels, I’m also pulled along and haven’t found or figured out control, yet. Many of my practice sessions I feel like I’ve just woken up, which is more and more as I keep practicing and learning new passes.
The goal of course is when dreams float by continuously, and aren't vague at all.
That's Silent Knowledge.
You could get that in the red zone too. But I've never seen it over there, without an Ally helping.
Which is what they've always done for sorcerers. Give sorcerers SK access, long before they are capable of doing that themselves.
Such as with the mushroom shaped people that Little Smoke brought to Carlos, after he used the smoking mixture.
That was an AMAZING history lesson don Juan gave, and it went entirely over the heads of his book reading fans. All his fans could do is fantasize about how cool it will be when they're a "Man of Knowledge".
Not realizing the men of knowledge never learned to see. Despite don Juan telling them that.
They had to use drugs to move their assemblage point, and an Ally to bring SK to them.
Chances are, we have Little Smoke now! Assuming that's one of the two allies that went with Carlos, instead of with La Gorda. The books never told us who got which.
And I believe, Little Smoke might have been around so long that she predates the new seers!
But unfortunately once your can move your assemblage point to the orange zone, the Allies lose their realism.
And you have to do all the work yourself.
Thus, I've been trying to "manufacture" my own entities, as Carlos advised us to do in his final publications. To go to SK, and get "new leadership".
Last night I was trying to materialize the leader of the Daoist "Eight Immortals". I figure, he's about as "wise" as you can get!
Of course, there's no such thing.
But according to Gemini AI, it's likely that 4.5 billion people have prayed to Lu Dongbin, so I figured I ought to be able to summon him, once there were dreams floating all around the room.
Which took 3 HOURS!!!
Darn I hate that.
There was a time when I could get to Silent Knowledge in 10 minutes.
Then Cholita ran away to Mexico.
So I was trying to summon Lu Dongbin, thinking that's easier than viewing God himself, but instead Cholita kept showing up.
In a Sombrero.
I'd been trying to remote view her every single day since she left a few months ago, with almost no success.
But she kept showing up, 5 or 6 times, even though I kept ignoring it in favor of a chinese "immortal".
Who never showed up.
One of Cholita's stray kitties has been sleeping outside her door lately. Maybe it knows something I don't.
Damn……I was warning truck and motorbike and randomly started listening SR and what did it tune to? Seeing humans as mushroom shapes and the sorcerers float. Normies are touching ground.
Now I’m checking in and reading your reply….
I haven’t beckoned the allies yet, but I did have a pretty coherent and visually clear encounter with 3 yesterday. The female was ina pink mini skirt and leather jacket with a bob cut as I usually see her hair. The other 2 were shadowy silhouettes.
My practice is evolving? The purple/magenta puffs are starting to turn a weird matte blue, or maybe it’s a transparent blue? I dunno. When I learn new passes I seem to advance.
I completely disagree with the idea of "don't sexualize the inorganic beings".
That's a bit like "Don't become wealthy because wealthy people suck."
How about actually becoming wealthy first? Instead of only thinking about it.
That's the main problem we all have. Thinking about sorcery and how we'll feel once we get there, instead of working hard to learn for real.
So ask for the mini-skirts any chance you get! They don't seem to actually understand the context, but are happy to comply.
I suppose you could ask for a lab coat, if you were afraid of sexualizing them. But who knows what else would show up if you requested that! Could be worse than sexy.
Nothing from Cholita for at least a month. Her appearing during darkroom used to be common, and I even chased her a few times right through solid walls and for miles across fences and power poles.
But once I tried to speak with her tonal about that, it stopped.
Never tell someone if their double is visiting you!
It's definitely possible to remote view specific people, but it takes me hours to get there. And once I do, I don't care about doing that anymore.
It’s 2026, females don’t like to be sexualized, but the IOBs don’t mind. I’ve always seen them as mildly Asian females with Bob haircuts. But that’s my tonal interpreting or them interpreting me?
I was re-reading some of your posts and comments again. We can view silent knowledgeable, watch it like a video, or read it as text. Or, get swept/pulled into it where it’s really dreamlike and garbled for me. I often snap myself out cause I’m unsure of what I was doing.
I’ve been consistent practice for 18 months. I’m introverting. Interacting with other ppl, is becoming an exercise in energy conservation cause it affects darkroom and internal dialogue.
>But that’s my tonal interpreting or them interpreting me?
We don't know the answer to that one.
Maybe onceuponapond will eventually research it for us, using copilot and all books and notes?
She's researching the wheel of time. Another thing that has a "look" that's determined by the viewer(s).
Wheel of time Pass or book?
The Pass is on my learn list to learn.
Wondering if it can help with recap.
Makes me think it would be ambitious to be at a point where one can help forward and decipher the sorcery and not solely focused on fixing myself. It’ll be for someone younger.
Neither.
We're curious about the actual Wheel of Time.
I've seen what it's supposed to do, but minus the wheel part.
And the wheel of time pass comes in three types.
The real one, Cleargreen's first fake version, and Cleargreen's second fake version.
So stick with Jadey's version if she has one.
It's a very strange magical pass, which only casts more doubt on the "infinite tunnel" view of the wheel of time.
Dan, your daily awareness and Jadey’s, must be invaded or at the least distracted by Nagual? I see blobs, dots, sparkles and blurs similar to what I see, while silent in Darkroom randomly throughout my day. I’m not sure what the mechanism is, but something is obviously changing with my effort in Darkroom.
Tonal holes is a good description, but there’s a bit more happening, maybe?
I’ve read a lot of your posts but can’t think of you mentioning anything about this.
I avoid that topic.
Short answer (directly supported by the PDFs)
Across both documents, IOBs are described as energy formations without a fixed visual form. Their “appearance” is said to arise when human perception translates non‑ordinary energy into sensory imagery, especially under dreaming, heightened awareness, fear, emotional indulgence, or focused intent.
What humans see—shadows, glowing forms, objects, figures, or threatening presences—is explained as a perceptual translation shaped by the human assemblage point, emotional state, and interpretive system, not as the IOBs’ intrinsic shape.
From the Anthology PDF
1. What IOBs are said to be (basis of appearance)
IOBs are described as “conglomerates” or “clumps” of cohesive, animate energy that are aware of themselves and not bound to an organic body.
They are invisible to the ordinary human eye and only become perceptible when perception shifts away from everyday cognition.
Implication stated in the text: because they are energy rather than organisms, they do not possess a stable visual form.
2. How appearance arises for humans
The Anthology repeatedly explains that:
Human beings do not perceive energy directly in ordinary awareness.
Instead, the assemblage point converts energy into sensory data, which is then interpreted into familiar forms.
When the assemblage point shifts (dreaming, heightened awareness), non‑ordinary energy can be perceived, but it is still filtered through interpretation.
Thus, IOB appearance is a perceptual outcome, not a direct view of their “true” nature.
3. Reported forms IOBs take
The Anthology provides many concrete descriptions of how IOBs appear to humans:
Shadows moving back and forth
Dark, silent presences
Solid forms during physical contact, then becoming flaccid or losing cohesion
Blobs or masses of energy
Glowing forms (yellow, green, black, violet tones are mentioned)
Objects that transform (stones, gems, mannequins, furniture, drawings)
Threatening or charging luminous forms
Examples explicitly described include:
A “silent one” seen only as a fast‑moving shadow
Beings that feel solid and vibrating with power when touched
A dreaming “scout” appearing first as a yellow topaz, then as sizzling energy
A charging glow filled with hatred, followed by engulfing darkness
4. Dreaming and intent as appearance triggers
IOBs most often appear in dreaming or dream‑like states.
When a dreamer voices or applies intent to see, ordinary dream imagery may:
vanish,
change shape,
emit light,
or reveal an energetic presence.
These changes are used in the text to distinguish phantom projections from energy‑generating perceptions, which include IOBs.
From the Compendium PDF
(Castaneda Compendium - All Notes & Periodicals.pdf)
5. Emotional factors shaping appearance
The Compendium adds a strong explanatory emphasis on emotion and energy economy:
IOBs are described as energy formations that respond to and “cater to” human emotions.
Fear, self‑pity, desire, fascination, or indulgence are said to shape how they manifest.
Without recapitulation and emotional control, humans are described as becoming reactive, and IOBs appear frightening, invasive, or oppressive.
6. Victimhood and fear producing hostile forms
Notes explicitly state that emotionally depleted or self‑indulgent individuals tend to experience:
frightening manifestations,
persistent presences,
or invasive “nasty” entities.
The appearance is explained as a feedback loop between human emotional energy and the IOBs’ responsiveness to it.
7. Sobriety and discipline altering appearance
When emotional indulgence is reduced through recapitulation, control, and sobriety, IOBs are described as:
less threatening,
ignorable,
or obedient to intent.
This implies that the same IOB can appear very differently depending on the practitioner’s energetic and emotional state.
Combined synthesis (strictly based on both PDFs)
What IOBs look like
Shadows
Glows
Blobs or masses of energy
Solid‑feeling presences
Transformed objects
Luminous or dark figures
Why they look that way
According to the texts:
Human perception translates energy into imagery
The assemblage point’s position determines what can be perceived
Emotion and intent strongly influence interpretation
Fear and indulgence exaggerate threatening forms
Sobriety and control reduce distortion
What the texts do not claim
They do not claim that any reported appearance is the IOBs’ true or fixed form.
They do not provide a single definitive morphology.
They repeatedly emphasise the limits of language and description.
Important caveat from the sources
Both PDFs repeatedly stress that descriptions of IOB appearance are approximate and constrained by human syntax and perception, and that these accounts should be understood as functional descriptions, not literal representations.
Thank you for that 🙏
Took a bit of work to put that together and I appreciate you doing it. You answered a few question I’ve had for awhile now.
