It may one day be possible to reap some of the benefits of sleep without ever closing our eyes. Stimulating specific brain activity in awake mice led to some of the same effects as deep sleep, including a boost in memory.

In the book silent knowledge (MP) carlos castaneda mentions don juan only rests for 2hr, 4hr rest also possible with what i consider reckless indiscipline but anything more seems suicidal and should really check why you’re tiring much
Don Juan was said to never sleep more than 2 hours at a time, and doesn't seem to have had any particular schedule.
Which is closer to what's natural for humans, than what modern man does.
If you can move your assemblage point all the way to the end of the J curve, and hold it there steadily, you won't have any doubt that you are indeed "asleep", but with your eyes open.
You can watch potential dreams materialize continuously, and enter them, and return, over and over again.
It's just REALLY hard to get there and then it's hard to practicing as long as you'd like, without falling asleep the normal way.
The stated purpose of this subreddit is to aid in restoring the reputation of Carlos Castaneda and the knowledge he imparted, by pragmatically applying that knowledge IN PRACTICE. This means that we are sticking to what really works, as proven by direct experience by long-practicing members. We need to make clear our intent to move away, as a community, from the mistakes others have made. Content that is at-odds with this purpose will, upon review, be removed.
