Because they read about those... That green zone is like a prison wall, to keep you inside the compound. If you get too close to escaping, it flatters you with visions of what you hope to see. "Proof" that your delusional religion is true and you are indeed superior as long as you stay where you are.
Below that is the red zone, which "might" show you what you expect but is more likely to show you what you fear.
