"A warrior doesn't need personal history. One day, he finds it is no longer necessary for him, and he drops it"
So that quote is genius. Because its the tonality that matters. "Needs". Not "a warrior uses techniques to not feed his personal story". No "he drops it". The attitude is Freedom. Freedom from techniques, obligations from everything. You dont have to have it. Unless you want to. Thats the lesson. You dont have to be the solid sence of self.
You dont have to listen to the internal dislogue. Matter of fact you dont even have to see the ordinary world. According to the books everything about perception is optional
I wish I could do the recapitulation head sweep, but my nose just doesn't like any attempt to control breathing. You know what I'd like to know, is if the recapitulation tensegrity passes does the same thing as the headsweep.
At super advanced levels perhaps. When you can visibly see the scene when you do the "recapitulation window" movement, then you're there. I've done this many times, but never found a specific memory. Just random scenes.
Like Recap is when done with no internal dialogue, it's a form of silent knowledge.
Don't bother until you match the situation of Carlos in his books, when don Juan taught him that.
Don't misread the books!
Unfortunately the first 3 are filled with tricks played by don Juan, on Carlos, to keep him around. And apparently to lure all of us, with his entertaining boy scout adventures and easy to follow rules.
Weren't there 5 of them? And "Erasing Personal history" was one?
None of those do you any good at all, as a beginner. That was proven over the first 50 years after his books came out.
Those rules never worked for anyone. Not even for Carlos. That's not how he actually learned sorcery!
Read all of the books (there's 20), and then ask what was going on with Carlos when don Juan taught him about erasing personal history?
Here's a hint.
When you get to that point, then you can put some effort into it. But before then it can (and always does) become an excuse not to do any actual work.
This isn't a rules based binary system, like Daoism.
Nothing you can do, will help you learn sorcery.
You can't deny yourself anything that will help.
You can't memorize any rules and follow them.
None of that will help at all.
Just so you understand, we're sleepwalkers!
Any fussing around you do only makes it harder to fall asleep while remaining awake.
So rather than figuring out how to erase personal history, instead we figure out how to stop our internal dialogue.
You eliminate it not so much by recap - recap is more about taking back the energy you left behind and getting rid of energy you gathered, and the act of moving your AP around so its getting less fixated, but you eliminate it by not talking so much about it with people and distancing yourself from ppl who knew you back then. I have done this involuntarily by moving physically many times. What happens is that when ppl dont have an idea of where your AP should be, they will not try to pin you to a particular spot, so it will be easier to move the AP around. Ppls thoughts of you matter, if they think excessively about you it matters. It becomes like a container. If they have few ideas of who you are they wont have so much expectations. And slowly your own expectations of yourself will change as well. These are constructs that all holds the AP in a specific place.

Recapitulation. That's what eliminates your personal history, or rather your attachment to it.

If you skip that, nothing is going to work.
Wait, which 20 books are you referring to??
Techno has a list in the wiki.
You're probably not counting some publications such as Silent Knowledge and Readers of Infinity.
And Taisha's unpublished book.
