"+the totality of ourselves is a natural condition which the tonal cannot obliterate altogether, and there are moments, especially in the life of a warrior, when the totality becomes apparent. At those moments one can surmise and assess what we really are."
Great quote. I love Tales of Power for the way that Don Juan talks about the tonal and the nagual and then reveals that those two things make the totality of oneself. It's quite a revelation if you think about it; and then experience it.

i love what don juan says about the tonal being what witnesses/assesses, while the nagual "is where power hovers":
"One can say that the nagual accounts for creativity," he finally said and looked at me piercingly. "The nagual is the only part of us that can create."
