Man, I missed that!
Yea, if you could use intent for anything you wanted, that would be very very bad. Rock star life style bad.
Beckon:
"...to lure; entice. a gesture that signals, directs, summons, indicates agreement."
Since being forthright yet penitent is compulsory in reaching any agreement between parties with possibly opposing agendas, it weeds out trivial or petty asshats from any success beckoning the active side of infinity.

That we can't petition INTENT for help with something we already know how to do on our own or are simply too irresponsible or lazy to labor at because of the time involved.
There are no free rides in Sorcery, everything has a price. And it's a partnership with INTENT not a golden lottery ticket. We have to keep up our side of the contract and it's initially largely unknown requirements.

The simplest and most direct way to petition INTENT (the active side of infinity) for assistance is to shout INTENT! out loud while thinking clearly about what you need of it. I like to then add a second verbal INTENT! followed by shouting the need out loud. Just to be sure! (probably unnecessary)
Danl999 wrote about it here a while back, but it's also in the books as I recall.
Personal intent isn't really achieved, it's what underlies basically everything we do. So simple, yet so difficult to understand because it's more fundamental than language.
Edit: I forgot that you're supposed to stare into infinity, like a clear blue sky above the horizon, when shouting INTENT!
You have to read between the lines.... of reality.
Funny I just got to that part recently and i don’t know how I missed it previously. it’s making me rethink the way I’ve been doing things. Very opposite of other practices.

The beauty of sorcery lays within its abstract nature. You can practice all you want but you’ll never achieve anything outside the will of universal intent.
For me this is a beautiful thing for it keeps me humble and provides me with a sense of truly being a part of or being connected to everything.
I recently tested the theory of surrendering to intent through stalking myself while using a dancing technique taught to me by spirit ( another abstract concept ), just to see where it would take me... for fun.
Really stupid I know, I escaped barely with my skin!
In other words I had to literally use my first attention to build a wall between myself and the forces I discovered.
It was fun and adventurous and it actually cemented my belief in this crazy world beyond a shadow of a doubt but it drained my energy a lot.
Nearly a year later I’m recovering and continuing my daily recapitulation, slowly dreaming more and always stalking using my presence upon the crest of the wave we call the now.
