Talking about freedom- Argentinian band translation

Hello to my brothers chasers of freedom from reddit !!

Ive been translating a song of La Renga, an argentinian band that is influenced by Carlitos books. Enjoy it!.

Original lyrics*

Ponerle alas a mi destino

Romper los dientes de este engranaje

...

Ponerle alas a mi destino

Romper los dientes de este engranaje

Translated lyrics*

TALKING ABOUT FREEDOM

I made my body friend of the wind and distance

And I went to look for a truth to my heart

Something as big as the sky and the mountains

And as small as a drop of dew

And my heart was no longer with me

He went to sit in each one of the things

And my heart was no longer with me

He went to merge with the essence and the wise

And now only one path I have to walk

Any path that has heart

Going through its entire length breathless

Leaving behind a thousand reasons in time

And die wanting to be free, find my wild side

Put wings on my destiny

Break the teeth of this gear

...

I made a place in the shelter of my dreams

And I kept my most precious treasure there

Where no man comes with their cages

Neither the machinery of survival

...

It was easier to me to intent life

Than selling it to the intellect and conformity

And now only one path I have to walk

Any path that has heart

Going through its entire length breathless

Leaving behind a thousand reasons in time

And die wanting to be free, find my wild side

Put wings on my destiny

Break the teeth of this gear

They banned watching the video here.

I never understand that, but it claims the uploader requested it.

No. The text is interesting.

Part of what Carlos was doing was called an "explosion" somewhere in the books. Or something similiar.

He just tossed some seeds out all over the place, not knowing which might grow.

Hollywood took a bunch of them, maybe due to Taisha, Carol, and Florinda visiting there sometimes.

The nice thing about hollywood, is they don't care if it's true.

Only if it makes a good story.

But the music industry also absorbed his books.

Apparently even in Argentina.

Carlos used to joke how tall the Argentinians are, and how nice their shoes are.

I believe in the south american pecking order, they were well above Mexicans.

For the USA centric out there, Mexicans consider themselves well above us. We have no culture, they say.

We just feel otherwise because of illegal immigration politics.

Yes you are right. And there are lots of seeds growing now, growing without knowing how Carlos really was, and how his path is for real. Only with a intent, that its streched out like a spider web above our life. Will this be enough to keep us in the right way? I dont know, but the thing is that i am tall and have nice shoes, so Carlitos is right again.

Does Argentina still have machos, and caballeros?

Cholita is a machisma. She hits, manipulates, lies, and steals to control her man.

But, the sex...

At least, that's my suspicion.

The women revolution have been taking over in last years. There are still machos but society punish them very hard (they call them "machirulos" 😂). Its wonderful how things changes with more womans everywhere (in a positive way). The bad thing is that womans are now in a defensive state (they are still fighting).
Hahahhahaha so Cholita is a machirula...

Oh yea... She certainly is.

In this country, one political side likes to use racism to attack the other.

It creates a terrible distortion.

If I'm in Singapore, I can start up a chat with the traveler drinking next to me in the bar, about the unusual local customs of the last place I visited.

I can even ask what's up with the women, and why do they do a particular thing?

In this country if you try to start such a conversation, you'll get, "That's offensive!"

Or, "That's racist!"

It's the "Ugly american" thing, as they call it elsewhere.

So Cholita is certainly Machisma, but I can't ask anyone for advice on how to deal with that, in this country.

Best I can do is watch old 60s and 70s romance movies. Young romance, with people dressed in twiggy style clothes.

Apparently, desirable young women with very short hair are considered hot. But they tend to steal a lipstick if they're out with you in the department store, just to give you something to worry about.

You have to be suffering all the time, and then they fix it with affection.

It's weird.

Try “the black phillip show” with Patrice O’Neal (archived on youtube) for unadulterated female deciphering, and for general fun his other youtube videos, on o&a or alone, he is (was) hilarious.

I will.

A male sorcerer needs to learn quickly, women are not like men at all.

And you will always lose in a disagreement, even if you don't realize it.

Patrice talks about difference in “for pay” girls in Brazil vs US for example, as a covered shame for both parties in US, vs pride in Brazil (in Brazil people go around with girls during day and introduce them to friends, neither girls nor customer feeling any shame, in US it’s quite taboo..)

If you travel the world you soon realize, people in the US are extremely prudish.

It's a surprise, because we believe the opposite.

I was sitting with a bar girl in Thailand, and asked if she'd get drunk with me.

She said, "Ok, I get drunk, pass out, you do anything you like with me. Only just don't hurt me."

My heart sunk. I could literally feel it falling in my chest, as I started to understand what she thought I'd been asking her to do.

It was a Yakuza controlled bar.

That was probably her third request for that, in the current week.
