He gets paid $10,000 for the "official duties" of his position.

This debased pantomime is the only view of magic the mainstream world believes or allows anymore.

But the sad residual longing for actual magic can't be completely shed.

So we pretend.

This is wonderful.

An excellent comedian and commentator on political issues. Makes sense they'd pay him, he'd gotten such a huge following they wanted him on the payroll so as to avoid perhaps more acerbic and pointed criticism, no doubt.

Being a wizard isn't easy, it's kind of like being a jester. Even your fellow wizards will criticize your choices.

Just have to remember you can't please everyone!

Maybe I'm picking up some of Dan's grumpiness.

Any visibility is better than no visibility?

At least he reminds people...

I just find the magick this man does, the control he creates for his own life, his own beliefs, and trying to make the world a slightly better place day to day, are all very much praise worthy.

Not all magick needs to be strange to be wonderful. It isn't all walking into other worlds. Sometimes the best magick is making this world a place you wouldn't want to walk out of. :D
