Well, you shouldn't really try to see them/it, as bringing attention to it will actually affect you. Trying to see this is not neutral, it's literally giving it/them attention.
But one thing I've learned -- if that really interests you -- is "flyers" are not individuals per say. Meaning, you can't really see "one flyer" the at you would see "one bird". It seems to be way more abstract than that, more like a complex, almost like a force, or a wind (trying to find metaphors, but it's not obvious.)
By considering it in a much more abstract way, you might want to try to "feel it" rather than "seeing it", meaning you could try to identify when you are under its influence, and when you're not.

If you really study the concept you will infact find confirmation in tons of literature thru the ages, so it's not so bright to entirely write them off as a pure motivational artifice.

If you check his information objectively, you will see that he is not versed in any area: neither in history, nor in religion, nor in mythology, nor in shamanism. It's just a show. If you want knowledge, study the sources.
About the idea of "flyers". Castaneda gave a lot of conflicting information. This is the only idea that is so controversial. For example, there is an explanation in Book 5 regarding a passage from Book 10. Etc. Why pretend there are no other explanations for this? If we take "archons" according to history - these are the governors of the Roman Empire. From this point of view, the texts of Christians often go as an allegory to the events taking place. For example, in the revelation there is a completely clear hint about the persecution of Christians by the Roman Empire. For example, states were then called "beasts" and they were designated accordingly. Etc. If you know the context, such texts are read differently. The same with regard to Gnosticism, if we don't know the true context - be profanation and fantasy (David Icke illustrates the extreme extent of this).

They likely don't exist. I was in private classes when Carlos created the idea. He didn't even try to do a good job, I believe he wanted us to know it was just a worthy opponent, like La Catalina.
It's become so famous because Cleargreen uses it as a recruiting pitch.
Myself, I haven't seen any. And my seeing is pretty good these days.
On the other hand, in the books, don Juan had to help Carlos see them, even though by that time his seeing was also very good.
