Some questions
New Practitioners
On the advice of mods and others, being new to this community, I have been reading a shit ton here. Have some questions if anybody has answers, much appreciate it. For so long, only had the books, dreaming, and silence to guide me. Had a lot of results, but so scattershot, Really want to get organized and assemble it all. Here are my questions, thanks in advance:
When I am in regular dreaming, then go to lucid dreaming, are there IOBs to be found in that state? Or is EVERY SINGLE character in Lucid Dreaming just part of regular dreaming and not IOB?
If an LD character pulls me into a different world, am I then in an IOB realm? Or is just more lucid dreaming?
If I do the secret of the twin positions, lie down in lucid dream, dream inside the dream, am I THEN in an IOB realm? (There is a tonal difference to me between these worlds and regular lucid dream).
If I lucid dream, and use my intent to get back to the place where I am in blackness being wrapped up tight like a cigar, roll out of my body, go through the wall, and walk my streets... if I meet a character there, is that an IOB?
I guess I'm asking where I meet IOBs if I approach through my different dreaming angles; as opposed to darkroom gazing and having one appear in my room.
5) Can I darkroom gaze, in theory, in the middle of the day, in a room filled with light?
6) Similarly, do my eyes need to be open to experience the benefits of 'darkroom gaze', or can the back of my eyelids act as the 'wall' across the room (As long as I don't fall asleep).
6) When gazing during the day, the squiggly lines and sparks, do they mean anything, or am I just straining my eyes? I never used to see them until I started doing practicing 20 years ago. I don't know if I just 'strained' my eyes with all my gazing and now I have permanent squiggles (it's easy enough not focus on them), or should I be using them? Someone posted earlier this week about using them.
7) Do ALL of these roads lead to the same place (Darkroom gazing, daytime gazing, staying awake while falling asleep, or going from LD-->blackness-->rolling out of body)? That is, reaching the double?
8) I hear music in my head on a loop most of the day, sometimes songs I've heard, sometimes songs that haven't been written. If I reach inner silence, and completely shut off the dialogue, but I still hear a chorus of a song on a loop in my head, does anyone have any experience playing a soundtrack while in dreaming? I have been experimenting with this, because when I allow the music to play, the colors are still very powerful behind my eyes, I can see tons of imagery. Are we allowed to have soundtracks?? Or should I just shut the music off too, which isn't that hard?
9) It was stated on this sub somewhere that the two primary energetic emotions that IOBs respond to are fear and love. Can a sorcerer guide the the tenor of that relationship; meaning, if I focus on love, and give off enough of that energy the IOB seeks, will it stay with that, or will it attempt to flip it to fear? Are any IOBs purely 'love/helpful' energy, or is it always a mix of love and fear, across all IOBs?
10) If I reach my double, how would I go about trying to cross the 4th gate and dream with someone else... are there any clear roadmaps, or is it all "intent"?
Thanks to anyone who may be able to provide some guidance or experiences that correlate, and as always, much appreciation to the hard work that goes into this sub. Every day, the amount of useful information coming out continues to blow my mind.

Not every character or element in lucid dreaming is a figment, advice on determining which isn't is laid out in The Art of Dreaming and in the posts flaired "Dreaming" in here. Hint: the scouts are where the action's at.
How to Pass the Four Gates comes to mind.
5) Yes. https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/comments/kx7p0x/white_room_training/
6a) Open. With eyes closed you aren't attacking the barriers of perception. You're accepting them. Leave the closed eyes for daytime recap. Do a search for "eyes" on here and you'll find specific posts on this.
6b) https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/comments/g6rp3g/cellphone_energy/ not sure if floaters are covered in there, but they can be used as an entry into the second attention if you're silent first.
7) Yes. Everything works together synergistically. But beware of falling into the trap of the woodpecker, who starves by pecking 2 times in 500 different holes instead of 1000 times in one hole. Don't waste your efforts by trying 3 or 4 different things for only 20 minutes each. The full benefit is only reached when you do one for longer than you feel is reasonable, because you've then broken down an internal barrier.

(Edit: from my saved notes of another user on here
">“I release all attachments, I release all judgments, I release the past entirely, I release all plans, I am in no hurry” You're voicing your intent. Always a great action. >playing a song (an earworm) after all other thoughts have ceased. So I thought, that's an attachment. I'll then repeat "I release all attachments”. I have this problem as well. I'll try your approach!")
9) Stick with one and it will as well. Because you won't react the way it desires with the other. And maybe fright would be a better term than fear, which is more psychological. Fright is animalistic, like a startled cat....it doesn't involve thought. Wonder/Awe/Intense Curiosity is also a draw for them.
10) I'm not qualified to advise .
Thank you. For all the links, and responses.
That cellphone energy thread is amazing. For sure floaters when staring at the cell phone's screen.
This is very great advice. Much appreciate your replies!
Thanks to Tribalwarfare for posting these questions and thank you very much to TecnoMagical_Intent for these very helpful responses! I've been wondering all of this. I have been lurking and reading, reading, reading on here and practicing in the dark (but don't have a complete darkroom setup yet) . Still, I have produced purplish blobs on occasions, and actually had some of that from earlier practice with gazing years ago. The question about music was a big question for me, but less because of earworms than because I have been listening to hz frequency music in sleep. I have been finding that it causes me to wake more calm and quietly (with greater quiet and less dialog and head trash.) It sees not leave a great tendency to earworm, but occasionally I replay a loop of soft chiming tones. I think it may be nudging me to greater stillness, but I would appreciate comment on it. Most recently I have been reading through the Index list on silence.
For what it's worth, I've been doing this:
1) Allowing the loop or ear worm to continue, while continuing to shut off the dialogue. However long it takes, the music is the last thing I'm trying to silence.
2) Once I'm down to just the music, I hang there and see if gazing is producing. If not, I'll shut the music off.
3) If gazing is producing ultraviolet blobs, then I'll hang out with the music for awhile and allow it.
4) Either way, eventually, I attempt to shut the music off. If I had to put $$$ down, I'd guess you can't get all the way around the J curve without total silence, no music.
But this (music playing in head on a loop) isn't really covered in the books, so when in doubt, i think you gotta go with pure silence. But I think it's definitely valid to differentiate the music from the inner-dialogue. They are not the same thing, and music doesn't seem to be counterproductive to gazing the way inner dialogue is.
