Well, here we go with quote time:
"I would say then that the tonal is a guardian that protects something priceless, our very being. Therefore, an inherent quality of the tonal is to be cagey and jealous of its doings. And since its doings are by far the most important part of our lives, it is no wonder that it eventually changes, in every one of us, from a guardian into a guard. A guardian is broad-minded and understanding. A guard, on the other hand, is a vigilante, narrow-minded and most of the time despotic. I say, then, that the tonal in all of us has been made into a petty and despotic guard when it should be a broad-minded guardian.
The tonal is everything we are. Anything we have a word for is the tonal. Since the tonal is its own doings, everything, obviously, has to fall under its domain."

"...What's important for you to know at this moment, is that you're jealously guarding weird secrets in your left-side awareness. That is why la Catalina and you like each other."
I insisted again that it was not that I liked her, it was rather that I admired her great strength.
Don Juan and Genaro laughed and patted me as if they knew something I did not.
"She likes you because she knows what you're like," Genaro said and smacked his lips. "She knew the nagual Julian very well."
Both of them gave me a long look that made me feel embarrassed.
"What are you driving at?" I asked Genaro in a belligerent tone.
He grinned at me and moved his eyebrows up and down in a comical gesture. But he kept quiet.Don Juan spoke and broke the silence.
"There are very strange points in common between the nagual Julian and you," he said. "Genaro is just trying to figure out if you're aware of it."
I asked both of them how on earth I would be aware of something so farfetched.
"La Catalina thinks you are," Genaro said. "She says so because she knew the nagual Julian better than any of us here."
...
"Don Juan matter-of-factly said that they were referring to the bizarre sorcery techniques that the nagual Julian had learned in the course of his life. Genaro added that the nagual Julian had a unique teacher besides the nagual Elias. A teacher who had liked him immensely and had taught him novel and complex ways of moving his assemblage point. As a result of this, the nagual Julian was extraordinarily eccentric in his behavior.
"Who was that teacher, don Juan?" I asked.
Don Juan and Genaro looked at each other and giggled like two children.
"That is a very tough question to answer," don Juan replied. "All I can say is that he was the teacher that deviated the course of our line. He taught us many things, good and bad, but among the worst, he taught us what the old seers did. So, some of us got trapped. The nagual Julian was one of them, and so is la Catalina. We only hope that you won't follow them."
...
""To be given a chance to go back again to the mystery of the world," don Juan continued, "is sometimes too much for warriors, and they succumb. They are waylaid by what I've called the high adventure of the unknown. They forget the quest for freedom. They forget to be unbiased witnesses. They sink into the unknown and love it."
"And you think I'm like that, don't you?" I asked don Juan.
"We don't think, we know," Genaro replied. "And la Catalina knows better than anyone else."
"Why would she know it?" I demanded.
"Because she's like you," Genaro replied, pronouncing his words with a comical intonation.
I was about to get into a heated argument again when don Juan interrupted me.
"There's no need to get so worked up," he said to me. "You are what you are. The fight for freedom is harder for some. You are one of them."

The left side/right side dichotomy is simply a more ordinary language way to state the nagual/tonal separation.
And the other teacher that Don Juan and Genaro are referring to is the death defier, Xoxonapo (Xoxopanxoco).
So the left side secrets are exotic positions of the assemblage point, deep down in the red zone and probably way to either side(s)...in the unknown regions.

In workshop notes, and Google searched excerpts from Amy Wallace's book. And also here:

Thinking won't do you any good.
You have to stop thinking to perceive it. Self-reflection directs the assemblage point towards this position, where we're idiots.
If you get rid of self-reflection it can move until you see energy on a horizon, and then you can pretty much do anything you can think of using silent knowledge to skim emanations and find the result.
If you don't actually perceive it and never have, and even if you think about it, it's a dubious fairy tale that will even make you a tiny bit angry inside, because it's forbidden by our socialization.
The Castaneda community is drowning in anger from thinking too much, and doing too little. They're jealously guarding impotence.
I suggest, get some secrets of your own that you might tend to "jealously guard".
Shapeshifting is wide open territory, and automatic at the red line on the J curve.
But "traveling without moving" is over in the orange zone.

Because you're infected with the Castaneda communities pretending.
They throw a tizzy when they hear about playing with inorganic beings.
And then they goosestep around pretending to be impeccable warriors.
It's because the first 4 books were about Men of Knowledge, not seers.
They don't realize that.
But the odd thing is, their hatred of inorganic beings.
The first 4 books are nothing else but Little Smoke (who we have in this subreddit),, teaching Carlos everything, mixed with a little bit of help from Devils' Weed Ally (who Cholita has).
It's 100% inorganic being for the first books.
Even stopping the world was done by Little Smoke, not Carlos.
The Coyote was little smoke.
The moth you see flying around on the book covers, is little smoke.
This subreddit exists as it does now (with actual teaching in it), only because of little smoke.
But the Castaneda community hates IOBs, because they don't have any.
The jealousy guarding secrets thing is a knock on Julian, but I still think it's overdone, to protect people who have to learn.
Don Juan shape shifted with both Carlos and Taisha, even having sex with Taisha in crow form.
Carlos visited the inorganic beings world hundreds of times.
Emilito's sand dunes were connected directly to their world.
I guess this seems rambling, but I'll sum it up.
Worrying about jealously keeping secrets is more "inventory warrior" behavior.
It's like saying you don't like caviar, when the real problem is, you can't afford any.
You're drowning in that sort of thinking.
I suppose it's common. I met or actually closely knew, all 100 private class members.
There are only about 10 who were actually interested in learning magic.
50 were groupies, and 40 were angry men, jealously repeating inventory from the books.
Which is why they all denounced Carlos on his death, creating that Saloon magazine article, and ruining his reputation over nothing.
I've been watching that happen for 53 years now, so I'm kind of protective and a bit grumpy.
The 100 private class "impeccable warriors" all gave up before they had any secrets to guard.
Alas, if only they had had some secrets to jealously guard.
Carlos wouldn't have been denounced like he was.
Do darkroom until you can reach Heightened Awareness, and you'll know.
Most of what you do over there is lost when you move back. For instance, last night my Ally taught me so fast, I had stop in the middle of it and take notes.
Most of what she taught me over there would be considered, "bad" by the current Castaneda community, because they've rid their idea of sorcery of any actual magic, so they can pretend instead.
So I have motivations to keep what I learn to myself, plus it's hard to remember anyway. So our left side awareness, easily activated with darkroom gazing, could even refuse to let me remember.
For instance, Lily taught me to translocate the darkroom into the IOB cave, and then use the walls to "travel" anywhere I could think of.
Across the universe even.
It's a simple technique. I added to a previous post.
It's not a good sign you asked. Should be obvious if you spent any time learning in here.

Did you read the bad players link?
That's where you should start.
Cuss I can see those fuzzy balls ready to mark territory.
Generally it’s good practice with any new sub/forum/group you join to read through pinned posts/sidebar posts and some of the post history first before posting anything. It’s extra important here, but doing this will save you a lot of grief if you go anywhere else in future too.
If you’ve ever heard the phrase “lurk more” it basically means you should become more familiar with the sub/forum/group first.
It’s not gatekeeping yourself, it’s learning how to suss out a new environment and be aware of what is going on there before acting, choosing timing, being aware of the local taboos etc. it’ll save you a lot of grief, in the online and offline world.
