Have you tried being open and "tracking" whatever presents itself if nothing is happening? Could be as subtle as a scent, or the source of a stray thought.
The spirit doesn't always knock on the door.
Sometimes it whispers.
Or maybe pick an element in your immediate environment, and train your recap onto it. Then expand your sphere.
