But you darkroom gazers only need to be told that there is more than one way to manifest things with your gaze.
Here's two.
I don't really like the blank stare, but the results are intriguing. Here's the Facebook stuff, which is more for people who are still too lazy to put in any work. Or aren't actually interested in anything, but convincing their Facebook visitors they have super powers (when they don't). Facebook:

If you can't view the second attention on demand, as long as you like, this won't be much use.
But if you have learned to shut off your internal dialogue, the assemblage point will move. Depending on what you look at, it will move in a specific direction.
When you get the assemblage point to an ideal location, such as where whitish light is visible in the air, you can back up just a tiny bit from there, back towards, "the shift below".
Now, the jet black darkness is no longer completely black. You can gaze for "energy" and find the whitish lines. Or back off a bit, and look for discontinuities in the air. Sparkles, vague dots, "feelings" of a ripple.
It's a disruption in intent. Or intent is "pooling" there, to turn the whitish light (energy) into something.
The emanations don't like to be naked! They'll do their best to get some clothes on, if you don't stop them.
But you want them to do that! It's just that, you want them to wear your favorite outfit.
So you gaze hard at the biggest "disturbance" you can find, which believe me, will be very very little. It doesn't need to be anything intense, or it's already formed.
Find something that seems a bit "energetic", and gaze hard at it, slightly rotating or vibrating the eyes.
The result of that is what you see on the lower left. I liken it to a hello kitty monster with laser eyes, who means no harm. But wherever she looks, she burns up the things around it.
Two nights ago I was doing that, and Lily my inorganic being came for a visit.
She criticized my gaze, saying it was smashing everything. Why not try leaving it all alone? Let be what will be.
I understood immediately what she meant. It wasn't that I should use my peripheral vision, and see all at once. It was more like, I should not focus my attention on one spot. I should let my attention silently illuminate all of the darkness in my sight. Not only my internal dialogue had to go, but the self-reflection needed to select a spot had to go also.
When I dropped my intense stare and relaxed, I didn't like the feeling
."This isn't for me!", I thought. Doesn't feel right
!It felt like being dead or perhaps, being lost forever.
But then a vapor started to fill the air. Too vague to tell what it was. Objects materialized, dimmer than the vapor.
The room was FILLED with stuff, everywhere .I turned my head slowly from right to left, and even turned around so I could move my head over the entire room. There was no place without an object or scene I could explore.
All I had to do was intensify the gaze at the desired location, very gently so as not to "burn" up the thing I had selected.
I group chatted about it in the Castaneda subreddit, but didn't think it good enough for a post.
So I tried it again this morning to make sure I hadn't given out useless information.
It worked exactly the same as the night before.
I didn't like it. But it produced far more results than the intense gaze.

I just got flipped off trying to pull a place from last night back into frame using recap. Guess it means I also cared too much lol

Yeah, quite literally. Not sure what it was. There was some mountain tree place I went into the night before las, it was really nice so I wanted to go back last night again. When I started on the small details and feeling of the place, it started to clear up, then as stupid as it may sound, a large blue hand came through the center of the half rendered scene with the middle finger up and a womans face gave me a dirty look.
I was laughing about it then, in the usual way things go my phone vibrated and it was the notification of this post saying not to try to control things so much.

Yeah, I couldn't help but to comment because of how it went, and how comedic the big blue finger was. Never seen anything crack a joke like that before.

IOBs are always relevant. As don Juan said, anything they do is significant.
But it goes deeper than that. They don't just tell you something useful. They can see into the future in some way, and figure out what the results will be of adding knowledge to you.
If it doesn't go exactly as they "saw", they'll tinker along the way.
So often you have to wait until what they wanted comes about, before you understand how intelligent they are.

If you want to move the assemblage point to the orange zone, you have to get dark energy somewhere.
IOBs are the main source. Witches a lesser source.
So we either need an IOB to practice sorcery, or an angry witch living in your home.

Trouble would be explaining why to her.
"Cholita, can I rent you out to some men who need your energy?"
Nope.
But as a bonus, if you have Cholita around long you'll see the laws of physics go out the window on occasion.
Right now she's draining "bad energy" from the house, using 2 small streams of water flowing over crystals and out into the gutter on the street.
It's rather lovely to come home, and find a little stream going down the driveway.
With 2 inch diameter yellow "dots" spray painted at key locations around the yard. Possibly to "collect" the bad energy, prior to causing it to flow away.
One dot is on the power meter box, which is likely related to me. All Cholita knows about what I do for a living is, it involves electricity.
But all I know about her spell is, the water bill is going to need a closer look next month.

There's a very advanced practice for changing to cyclic beings or re-runs of past sorcerers.
It works too!
The problem is, when you get to the red zone, you're at an amazing amusement park, filled with magical exhibits.
To change to cyclic beings, you have to ignore that, keep looking OVERALL, and not at anything specific, until you start to see whitish light on flat surfaces.
At that point, all the wonderful magic goes away. You've gotten to the edge of the orange zone.
Then you have to keep watching that, until you are in a phantom copy of your bedroom.
Also a magical place to hang out. You can travel to other worlds without leaving your bed. They surround you, like you were in a 360 degree virtual world ride at an amusement park.
You have to "give that up" too! Which is very hard!
If you give that up, the worlds on the walls (which can also grow into the room) evaporate and the whitish energy floats towards your gaze.
As you watch it, it forms a flat surface in front of you.
That's a new trap! You wiggle your fingers in it, and objects and dreaming scenes appear.
It's even more fun that everything before!
But you have to give that up too...
You just sit, gazing overall, and don't participate in anything you see.
You MUST force even deeper silence there.
My guess, you're refocusing your "where". Before it was obsessed with "here", at a subconscious level.
You have to reject "here" too. Might help if you can "forget who you are", which is essentially a deliberate break in continuity.
And FINALLY, you get to what you are talking about.
A "magnetic pull" is one way to describe it.
You can simply "feel" them, but what you want, is for them to feel you.
Your head will turn all by itself. It's not like a demon grabs it and turns it. It's really your double doing it.
So it feels like you did it, but you had absolutely no plans to do it. It's only "odd" when you think about it much later on.
The magnetic pull is from a real, energy generating world. You've sensed that it's available if you go that direction. It also means you were gazing off into the emanations overall. Into the dark sea of awareness. (But it will be anything but dark at this point because you've put a little awareness on it all.
After the head turns, and if you have enough energy, and if you've permanently given up your book deal aspirations, you get to enter.
There is in fact a "zoom" as you go in, but it's so fast that all you notice is, you're standing in another world. And it feels as if you're been there all along.
You can return by rejecting it, and turning your head back exactly the same direction you started at.
Whether it will be a cyclic being or a re-run, I suppose you only find out when you get there.
If it's a cyclic being, you'll be thinking, "What the heck??? I have a wife? What is this place?"
But, almost instantly you remember. Of course that's my beautiful wife! This is our beautiful house too! And this is my beautiful car!
(got carried away with talking heads music).
That's when you fully realize it's a cyclic being world. It's one of the other 600 copies of "you".
If it's a re-run, you won't have that sort of volition.
No free will I suppose, but you don't notice it. You're someone else, doing what they do naturally.
But for an instant after you enter, you retain enough memory to turn the head back if you choose.
So the "magnetic pull" thing might be a "specialty" you could exploit.
We'll get specialists if we keep this up!
Here's what I'd like to know:
If you turn your head back and reject it, can you turn a different direction and find a new one, almost instantly?
Can you turn your head only halfway? Would that pick a different time period in the re-run?
Can you split in two, at the start of a re-run, so that you're merely watching it with your double?
Because if you don't, it's unlikely you'll figure out who everyone is in the re-run.
You won't necessarily look at their faces, because you already know them all. You'll be doing your own thing, among them.
We're going to need someone who can split in two, if we want to know who we can re-run.
Can you re-run Jesus????

I have another question about gazing, not in dark room in particular. In a book, "second ring of power ", la Gorda told CC that all dreamers must be gazers first, and, when gazing, eyes must be have shut.
First question: in my case when I try to gaze like she suggested, imagine of the thing I gaze at doubles if I close eyes halfway. Is that's the way it's supposed to be? If that's the case, do I need to gaze and keep in focus both images?
Second question: I didn't really get what she meant about eyes movement (counterclockwise)?
I don't believe you can show me that passage about eyes shut, but I could be wrong.

Darkroom gazing is in fact gazing! And the lights are off, so the eyes are shut.
It's just t hat, if you close your eyes, you go into the double's realm. Not into the Tonal's realm, where we need to go.
The double has all the power we could want, but it's no use here until you convince him to come out of the world of closed eyes.
Closing eyes halfway is just part of gazing. Squinting too. Even don Juan squinted.
We use everything!
Just don't close them too long, if y8oou want to do the darkroom technique. You'll end up as a closed eye warrior sitting in a rocking chair, remembering your days of glory.

As for the object doubling, what you want to gaze at, is something confusing to the mind. Anything.
Double, single... Either is good.
Remember the story of the red rag on the stick, blowing in the wind, which confused Carlos into thinking it was a wounded animal.
So it started to become one! And then Carlos jumped up, to put a stop to it, and don Juan saved the rag forever on his belt, just to rub it in.
It's a "not-doing"!
Even if you know exactly what it is, your second attention will still come out to help, if it's not absolutely clear.
So you can gaze at "eye dust" in the sky, and even though you know that's likely just plant fibers, it can turn into a hot air balloon, with an excited man driving it along.
You can even argue with it at that point. Tell that man, "hey, you're just dust fibers!!!"
He might salute you with his waving hand, if he gets free from the hot air balloon controls for an instant.
(seen that myself).
But don't expect that. Any "weirdness" is a success.
Once you find that, you have a little string, leading down the rabbit hole.
Follow it.
If you go down the rabbit hole and find the string is tied to a rock, you can be sure that if y8ou look around there, a rope will be available to let you continue.
That's "the spirit". It doesn't leave us stranded.

That's the normal procedure.
So you can "look for weirdness".
At first, you'll just find something that it easy to ignore.
Maybe the sides of the water canyon merge to make a "new thing", and you realize, it's just an optical illusion created by your mind believing the left rock slope is the same as the right rock slope, and using the two of them to judge the depth and size.
It's just a crummy trick...

Anyway, I'm sure you have something like that going on too, regardless of internal dialogue or not.
When that part is confused, our dreaming half comes out.
He can make anything, look like anything!
But he's well behaved. So he sees your impossible "rock" hanging in the air, and he adds sparkles to the edges. Maybe it's a decoration?
That's what we want. That added "weirdness".
Now if you're thinking, "Fine, but that's just your lousy dreaming attention. I dream for hours a night, and it doesn't do me any good."
You forgot about the double... All this activity will interest him.
So, it's like squinting, I guess I've found a way to keep one image... I'll try that with leaf tonight.
I'm afraid that you are right when you saying that I could still have some dialog that I couldn't catch yet.
I'll practice with leaf/s for some time, so my body gets acquainted with that feeling, and then will try in the dark room.
Maybe this exercise will ease my troubles in finding hands in the dreaming....
I am waiting for arrival of an upside-down glasses. That should definitely shake my assemblage point.

Here's how fast various paths are, fastest to slowest to never.
Gazing
Chair silence
Recapitulation (at least 3 hours a day)
Dreaming (at least 6 hours a day, setup time included)
Tensegrity (at least 1 hour a day with forced silence, or kiss it goodbye).
Warrior's way (give up).
Can you explain the process of recapitulation. What exactly am I supposed to do and look for...
I do some tensegrity , but only few moves , don't have much room in my truck. I will look on YouTube for more, and those that I can manage to perform in a truck, will definitely do.
And walking for at least an hour or more. Even though it is a challenge. Laziness is in the way.
When you do dreaming 6 times at night, how you feel in the morning, aren't you sleep deprived because of that?
I ask that because I drive for a leaving.
Recap is the same as darkroom!!!
To move your assemblage point.
Instead of removing the internal dialogue, you interrupt the normal dialogue to remember the past.
The assemblage point is forced to drift!
As you free up energy from those past events, it's easier for it to move.
You "undo ME".
You have to do 3 hours. No way to get out of that. You're moving the assemblage point for heaven's sake! That takes time.
Ok, you can cheat and do less, but don't complain to me if it's lame.
Eventually while doing it, you doze off. Or blank out. It's hard to say which, but you are GONE.
For an instant.
On the way back, you have a mini-vision. And become aware of it.
The IOBs notice that, and send a scout.
If you have a recapitulation crate, she'll sit right on top of it and try to figure out how to get your attention.
False memories are the most common. Fabulous riches will be in your memory, in a golden chest, that you found as a child and lost. And it's in the room somewhere!
You'll be absolutely sure you have a chest full of amazing jewels!
You'll move an inch to leave the crate, and realize that's nuts!!!
So you sit back down, start again, and suddenly you remember it for sure!
Yes, you have a chest of gold and jewels!!!
But, I've lost students to recap.
One got dark false memories implanted, and acted on them.
Someone had raped her, and she forgot.
But they didn't.
She made the mistake of accusing them.
So she quite, went to a Dzogchen guy, who imprisoned her to this day, in service to others. No magic. Just Buddhist ideals of behavior.
She's doomed.

BUT, you have to do it like darkroom. Deliberately. Not as a "chore".

Some of the men in here could put in 6 months doing recap, and then give a totally amazing workshop on recap, that would have participants sending fruit baskets to them for years.
Juann would get marriage offers.
But you have to move your darkroom into the recap crate. Not the scooping part. Just the seriousness and desire to move the assemblage point, through that technique.
Grumpy. Submerged. Under water.
Not liking anyone around you, but having an elevated sense of worth.
It's not pleasant.
However, it's possible that Carlos was "reversing" the order of things with 4 gates dreaming.
I got a "presentation" on it by Fancy of all creatures. Last night.
But it was so far "out there", I can only remember bits.
She wasn't happy with my explanation that it's useless.
It was something like, darkroom brings out your dreaming awareness and makes it available to your Tonal.
She didn't use that word.
4 gates dreaming brings the Tonal's sobriety to the double.
So they are completely different things.
If you want to go live with the IOBs, 4 gates dreaming is the better path.
You'll have more self-control over there.
Let see, If I do wake up 6 times at night, spend 20-30 minutes for anything and then go back to try dreaming... and do that , let's say — 2 days in a row... will I feel that I will be tired and feel exhausted?
Yes.
If you want to learn 4 gates dreaming, you need 14 hours in bed. Much of that forcing silence. The extra time so you don't succeed, but have to wake up for work.
Now, if you only want to do lucid dreaming, that's another story.
But that's not 4 gates dreaming by any measure. Lucid dreaming REQUIRES leaning to be silent. So if you've decided to put it all at bedtime, you have to try to go directly into dreaming through perfect silence.
Otherwise, you'll fail at the 2nd gate. you can find a scout, if you learn how to identify them.
But you probably won't get any lessons from the emissary.
I suppose there's some belief in the Castaneda community at large, that you can spend hours doing dreaming and not suffer from lack of sleep.
It's from Eagle's Gift, where Carlos says so.
BUT...
We always have to keep several things in mind when reading something like that from the books.
1 Was Carlos pushed into heightened awareness so that what he's explaining, happened while he was in sustained HA?
2 What else was Carlos doing at the time, throughout the day?
3 How far into his apprenticeship did it occur?
It's one thing if he did it the first week, and another if he did it just before don Juan left, and his assemblage point had moved around so much, his body was like swiss cheese.
And 4:
What happened to those darned lizards?
Just always wanted to know that, especially seeing how much Carlos likes rattlesnake meat.
Last remark (4) was funny.
I'll go with the flow, one step a time. Gazing and searching for my hands. With no one to guide it is not only a challenge , but a dangerous one. I am glad that I have books that can give some hints on the matter.
