Sorcerer's apprentice (The only book with that odd magical spark I've felt since Castaneda) ; Published in the 80's.

What was I searching for?

The part of me that was lost In intelecutal education. Instinctive, intuitive part of me which followed me like a shadow behind the rational acts, never really far away, but never close enough so i could touch it.

I suspected for a long time, That I have my own Double , with whom I was very close, especially in my childhood years.. We were never hidding anything between ourselves.

After that, I don't know when and why we began to distrust "eachother". Circumstances in which we grew and learned, began to choose a side of my intelletual self.Intuitive part that was rejected in school, in the university and also in society, began to slowly fade away. It moved ito a dimension that intelectual self wouldn't accept as equal, because it was inexplicable, and scientifically unfathomable, even though It proved itself again and again through the experiences of my life.

My opinion: One of the best books I have read so far, and the only one that I considered to be equivalent to Castaneda's... absolute masterpiece.

The hero's journey happening in HIYMALAYA, TIBET.The guy searched for apprentice, and found a Yogi, named Jogananda, who happened to be the man of knowledge. Many crazy events took place, its the Shamanism as we known it and it's connection to buddhism and foundation of both: MAGIC.Also a path of Warrior and the journey to freedom.

Don't you actually want to do some real magic?

Or only pretend?

Did you bother to see who else has succeeded in making that book work?

Does the author have people he taught, and you can see it with your own eyes, and the steps they took?

You're setting yourself up to spend the rest of your life in mental masturbation, as the Castaneda community did for 23 years.

If you want to pretend your magic, you're in the wrong subreddit.

But all the others are good for pretending. I've been to most of the magic subreddits. There's only angry pretending.

Please explain to me why you didn't bother to see if anyone learned that. Sincerely, I'm asking.

I'm always curious why someone wouldn't check it out. All I can think of is:

1 Could it be you don't actually believe anything can happen?

2 Or maybe there's so many things out there, that you believe there are plenty of choices?

You think "magic is everywhere!"

Unfortunately, there are no others. At least, no one has shown me any.

At least, no one has shown me any.

That work reliably even when the person practicing doesn’t necessarily believe anything will happen. But they’re not closed-off either.

In other words impartial, which kind of leads into inner silence…foundationally.

And, you need to see that the person or people for who it's "working", don't have aspirations for a franchise, meaning, they're greedy butt kissers.

There's plenty of Dzogchen and Daoist greedy butt kissers. I got lynched by more than 1.

Ideally you should see that real people are in a subreddit or chat group somewhere, honestly discussing how to make a specific things work better, and sharing tips.

Like this place!

So you can be an intellectually honest person for your own sake, and see that it works before you waste all your time on it.

But instead, most people will waste 10 years on nothing, then go find a new thing, also without checking it out first.

You can learn about this by visiting martial arts studios, and talking with students.

Go to the worst martial art that has no chance of winning any competitions, and you'll find the clueless students bought the "masters" claim that this is the world's best martial art.

If you could follow one student as a fly, you'd see him bragging to his friends about that.

But then years later, you'd find that he switched studios.

And NOW he has the world's best martial art.

I studied 15. That's a real explanation of how lame and dishonest people are, when picking out martial arts.

But it's even worse with magic, because no one actually expects it to be true.

Everyone accepts, it's ok to lie about magic.

And if you aren't lying, they'll lynch you.

The world hates the real thing.

lets take this from another perspective.

the book made you feel in a certain way.

what is a feeling, xcept a position of your own perspective on infinite realities.

now, if you crave for feelings of those sorts, there are plenty of good places to find it.

the real question is what is that you want?

here we thrive to be in freedom to experience all experiences without getting attached to any.

and to master those positions of our perspective, so we can summon it at will.

if you could feel like that anytime that you want, wouldn't be that super duper gucci anymore. just another key in your pocket.

what dan99 says is just plain intelligence. cutting away emotional upheaval from intention.

what is your intention?

There's no need to romanticize about magic. It leads just to mental masturbation.
