They called it The Navigator’s Log in workshops:

https://www.reddit.com/r/castaneda/comments/fjndmm/navigators_log/

But forcing silence will teach you much more about yourself, and what needs to be addressed to sustain it.

I think - purely by mental masturbation and no seeing - that you might confuse these different diaries. The album of memorable events are memories of the experiences that will keep you contained a little bit longer than normal, as a unit, when you are dying. Those memories are memorable because they should be the destillation of what defines your individuality. The Intent or You, specifically. The continuity of yourself is based on memory and the loss of continuity is final death.

There's a "dark side" to Journals.

One people might not know, unless they were trying to save the teachings of don Juan from inevitable doom and had been all over to see what's going on, as I have.

There are fake sorcery schools all over!

Nearly all tell you to start making journals.

When asked how they explain this subreddit, seeing as how they have no one doing actual magic, they say this place is "evil".

They have different kinds of "journals", and this type he wants to make is surely among them. But there are "stalk yourself" journals, and dream journals too.

It's EXTREMELY ugly.

And death to magic. It's like handing some good quality marijuana and a stack of porno, to teenagers. Telling them to "go learn sorcery with this."

As evidenced by the fact that there's no magic out there at all.

The journals are "bad ass topic" clones, all designed to force you to start mental masturbation in more detail, to keep you thinking you're learning so you'll pay for the next course.

They don't care if you only take 2 courses.

That's a jackpot for them!

Most make you sign a "non-disclosure" agreement, so you can't tell your friends you were robbed.

But if you are paying attention to the community as a whole, it's sort of like if someone tells you they can sell you some great "penny stocks". And you can make 1000 times your money on those.

Or even "The London Bridge".

Or a sure fire "baldness cure" that works to completely restore your "youthful appearance".

If you've heard a con over and over, you pretty much know it on sight.

And really...

WHO could come in here, see the magic, and not realize how important this place is?

And that it's found NOWHERE else.

And start whining about inclusivity?

Only someone who was pretending, so they assumed this was just a better pretending job than they are doing, and so it might be a good place for them to practice their own pretending to see if they can gather more fans.

He wasn't looking for the "like minded".

He was looking for the "feeble minded".

Probably so he could ultimately steal from them.

I wish I could see a picture of all the bad players who flow through here.

I keep thinking there would be something with the eyebrows, or maybe a slightly cro-magnon man head shape.

Except the cro-magnon men didn't have bizarre internal dialogues that lead people to become thieves and turn up their nose at real magic.

They were probably technically behind humans, because their magic was vastly superior.

Which didn't go well for them in the end.

It's called, "the book deal mind at work", if you have experience trying to teach people.

Which I've done the last 24 years since Carlos died.

No one who emphasized this ever learned much beyond the green line on the J curve. And that only because I spent 10 years trying to talk them out of this sort of activity.

It just means, they're obsessed with attention seeking.

Not magic.

Which is death to sorcery learning.

Now later on, yes!!!!

If I don't draw up the stuff I do for hours all night long, it's soon GONE.

That's why you keep a journal. To combat the loss of memory from deep positions of the assemblage point.

And it helps you "notice" hidden things. Like how brilliant the inorganic beings are. You have to step back, to notice that.

You should give this up if you expect to learn anything.

Wait until you can reach the orange zone on the J curve, daily, and then resume that activity.

Also you've taken this out of context. So justifying it from the books, is not really valid.

Carlos had don Juan pushing him into heightened awareness from the very beginning.

And he worked like a dog, with the "right way of walking", and gazing, and erasing personal history, not-doings.

Carlos worked harder than any of us.

So, making a journal just helped him understand the magic he was encountering.

Before you can do actual magic, this journal thing is like trying to pretend the results, without doing any actual work.

Thanks for the feedback Dan. (fyi - I’m not writing any books. Lol)

My personal album has 16 entries. not sure if thats good or bad. I learned something from the process so that’s why I shared.

fwiw, I originally went through the exercise because Don Juan suggested that every warrior do it.

maybe this reference is helpful:

”Every warrior, as a matter of duty, collects a special album” , “an album that reveals the warriors personality, an album that attests to the circumstances of his life” -

CC Active Side of Infinity” -It starts on page 5 and goes into more detail After that

That's after he actually is a "warrior", and not just pretending.

Your mistake is to assume you are a "warrior", just because you read about it.

He also said, "volunteers aren't welcome" on the path of sorcery.

So maybe the inspirational quotes are against you?

But you should consider that nearly everyone in the time since the first book of Carlos came out, claimed to be a "warrior".

And 0 learned sorcery.

Zero!

If there was one, I wish someone would point me to them!

But no one can, because no one learned.

Or I might not have to be here.

And I know from direct experience, a lot of those "volunteer warriors" kept journals.

It was a favorite activity of pretend warriors. Made them feel as if they were making progress, allowing them to ignore the fact that they were not.

Since they never actually did any real work.

The real problem with it is, what it implies.

That someone else will read it one day, and be "inspired".

Learn to write it in the darkroom air with your finger, and then read it back.

That I could get behind!

It is actually visible once you learn how to do it.

I've managed to scratch out 4 or 5 words I could then read from the air.

But I have too many things to try, because all the "journal" writers failed to learn anything.

So I have to test stuff mostly on my own. In order to convince them, there's things you can do which are a lot more fun than keeping a journal.

By the way, there may be a deeper meaning hidden in this quote.

That we can read those journals.

Maybe I'll see if I can get the caretaker to tell me if there's a library near Bubble Station!

That would be pretty cool.

Or at the least, one of those airport bookstores.

The "Time Magazine" there ought to be the one with Carlos on the cover.

I'd planned to open a concession stand next to Dream Bubble Station, if I can get the kissing couple of inorganic beings to return and run it.

Now I think, maybe a magazine stand?

I'd rather not test the concession stand by eating any of the IOB food.

Someone pointed out to me, if I don't pay the IOBs who work there, can they "extract payment" another way?

I don't know. Carlos never wrote about such things. It's not for innocent ears to hear the full craziness of sorcery.

buddy, I’ve been at this a long time. I came here to maybe meet like minded people. Please feel free to skip past my comments.

Ah, we have a bad player after all.

Didn't take much to get him to confess.

A "journal writer".

Attention seeker.

Magic pretender.

I hope you don't have a rambo headband.

What's up with the "bro", "buddy", and "mate"? We see that all the time, as bad players heads build up in pressure, but haven't exploded yet.

Do dogs have their own word they say, when they piss on your leg?

Maybe a brave doggy snort?

So let me get this straight. You don't know the difference between real magic, and pretending, and are looking for "like minded people", in the only place in the world where actual magic is surviving.

But you don't care. Just leave you alone, so you can pretend in peace?

Let it be destroyed! You'll even make posts designed to cause people go to back to mental masturbation, as long as you can find a "warrior's way" rule to justify it.

Screw this place because your needs are more important?

And you're going to tough guy battle me, even though I'm the only reason you came here?

This place was a graveyard for inspirational quotes before someone pointed it out to me. 600. Now it's more than 6000, in less time than it took to get the initial 600.

You wouldn't have been interested in this place in the least if I hadn't wanted to use it to try to save the teachings you claim to have been following so long.

But you never took the time to figure out where you were.

You were just waiting until you could begin to "teach" others with your posts?

Did you read the bad player post, with the dog pissing on the expensive looking wall he can't pass?

Don't delete your posts.

At least let others in the future study your behavior and analyze how to tell people with bad motivations, as they arrive on their "best behavior" waiting for their chance to sling shit.

It's valuable information!

But they almost always delete it when the truth is obvious.

I always tell people who have a paranoid schizophrenic family member, don't get dragged into their arguments!

It only leads to madness.

I learned that from Cholita.

I'd get pulled along by her arguments and complaints, trying to make some sense of them.

Like this poster. You can get dragged along by his unhappiness and attention seeking.

And try to "reason with him".

But in fact, when I ultimately got enough understanding of what was bothering Cholita in each case, it was completely crazy.

For instance, she didn't like this subreddit.

She made the arguments she knew would have to be received well by me, but when I explained the alternative was to lose it all, I eventually found out what was bugging her.

She believed that the people in here would rise to sorcery power, and sacrifice her to celebrate the achievement.

Drink her blood like the fake Jewish book of future evil "protocols".

It got worse from there. She doused all the electronics in my room, because she believed I was about to activate my killer robots.

Don't be confused!

Bad players like this guy, are simply mentally ill.

No one who comes to this subreddit, having believed in Castaneda all these years, and isn't overjoyed, is mentally fit.

They're nuts.

We don't always keep that in mind.

Let's say the topic was just a technology.

Which sorcery is!

Maybe those old Timex Sinclair $99 computers from the 80s.

If you were a big fan of those, and came to a subreddit where people were networking those to build an AI, would you get angry?

It's ludicrous!

Only someone mentally ill would then start attacking that subreddit, to try to deviate or put a stop to networking of Timex Sinclair computers.
