If only this sort of effort was put into darkroom practice…

That's the pretending hard effort.

All show, no actual work.

Homeless people wander around walking all day. But try to get one to learn to shut off the internal dialogue.

One has to wonder who snapped the pic of him and how they knew to do that along such a long highway.

And why?

Reminds me of that smiling guru con artist "second attention smoke" guy posted as "magic" from somewhere else.

There was a documentary of him.

Why?

And his "magic" was groupies who made up stories of his supernatural mental powers.

But every single catholic "saint" has stories like that. Every corner Baptist minister in the middle of the USA has those. Every cult figure.

I even get stories like that made up about me!

For second attention smoke user, the magic was attention. All the attention he was getting.

We have to give up attention seeking, and stop admiring people who are successful at that.

We want magic...

Nothing else.

And you don't go searching, until you know where to look.

Certainly not in India.

He didn't even bother to pick something he'd put the time into researching, to make sure it was real and others had succeeded at it. There's google now days!

Otherwise maybe he'd be walking to south america, not India!

It's also a giant mental masturbation waste of effort.

Really, you just need to get home from work, eat if you must (I don't recommend it), and get working on darkroom.

Don't stop until you have to go to work again. That gives you 14 hours at least for darkroom.

And move so that getting to work only takes 10 minutes. If you live further away from your job than 10 minutes, you are wasting valuable practice time driving in your car.

If so, then force silence every second you are driving.

As for sleeping, just take naps when needed. Forget the "a good night's rest is the most important thing for your health".

It is NOT.

Then I suppose if you must, after you reach Silent Knowledge (sure to happen if you do all this), you could eventually remote view india looking for people who can actually do anything cool.

Saves on shoes.

A good night of sleep is imperative to my own personal health, and to my ability to think critically during the day doing patient care. This method is definitely not possible for everyone, and could arguably result in sleep deprivation hallucinations instead of actual results.

You have to give up your lifestyle to learn quickly, that's all.

If you don't mind learning slowly, then an hour a day might do the job, over 30 years. But it has to be a SERIOUS hour.

And no, a good night's sleep is a modern invention.

It wasn't natural for humans for the first 295,000 years of our existance.

It just came along with agriculture.

But that's not our natural state. We evolved to be hunters and gatherers who hunted both in the day and at night, and had to watch out for dangers at all times.

We never slept in 8 hour blocks until agriculture required everyone to work the same schedule, and not waste daylight time. And to live in nuclear families, a very unnatural thing and not even actually healthy for the kids.

In a loose tribal setting like we had, the poor kids who got "crazy mom" would go live with some other woman and escape all the psychological damage that's common these days with undiagnosed mental illness.

We don't live in a healthy situation at all!

It's a modern invention designed to keep us controlled.

I believe someone posted an article saying, even in medieval times people hadn't yet fully changed over to a single sleeping block.

And I might point out that some of the most functional and fit humans of all, navy seals, regularly sleep deprive themselves and still perform better than any of us can.

Do you think that being silent is more "healthy" than sleeping?

Also.. since i started darkroom gazing.. my daily anxiety dropped significantly and i feel better overall.. mentally wise. At some points i feel something like a "bliss".

Another question.. some days when i go to sleep after darkroom.. i feel like im half asleep half awake... everything is like a fever dream.. i dont know how to explain it.. is like everything i feel is "stretchy" and makes no sense.. this happens almost the WHOLE NIGHT.. honestly is excruciating.. do you know what is this?

Why is there a choice to be made?

One of the oddest things about darkroom, is that you begin to feel you have to "give up something". Something major.

I feel that too!

But in fact, nothing in your life changes at all!

You just stop fussing around in your thoughts all the time!

It should be nothing but a gain, but it feels like we're giving up "Lassy the dog, and his little friend Timmy".

Or Granny's apple pie.

None of that is true.

I only advocate for changing your sleeping habits, because all of our available time is used up earning a living.

And yet, we find time for our hobbies.

So just make it a hobby, if you worry about losing sleeping time.

The thing about mixing it in with sleep is that the assemblage point moves during dreams, and you can wake up with it in a new position, which will help you see cool stuff while doing darkroom. As you suggest further on in your questions.

But in fact, no one has to give up anything to learn sorcery other than a few hours each day to practice. No more than a musician does with his favorite instrument.

Or a surfer does with his board.

>At some points i feel something like a "bliss".

And that's cool, but keep in mind, that's the very trap that has destroyed the chances for Buddhists, Hindus, and Daoists. Even Magick people I'm told.

It's a "left shift" of the assemblage point. Not a vertical one, as we need.

It's a shift to make that level along the J curve, "more real".

Left is bliss and spirituality, right is sex and physical activity.

The J curve has that top blue line. Then halfway down the back is the green zone.

But we seek to travel 3 or 4 times further, to the purple zone on the other side of the body.

And THEN we even stretch to an infinite line, to explore the stars! For real.

Buddhists and other meditation people find the "bliss", and stop there. They start exploring that, which causes the assemblage point to shift horizontally, instead of down.

They "get stuck in the slime" of the green zone, and declare themselves superior beings. Even lord it over others as "masters".

It's actually rather evil. When you see a blissful smile on the Buddha's face, sitting with his eyes closed, he's really counting how much money he has now in his bag of tiny hindu gold coins.

I love those... Super tiny gold coins. Cool.

>i feel like im half asleep half awake... everything is like a fever dream..

You've gotten the attention of your double, who comes out earlier than your other half, the tonal awareness, has fallen asleep.

It's mixing.

If it's excruciating, try doing various tensegrity forms until you find one that sirs the emanations needed to resolve that imbalance.

Try life saver pass! That might help. Or, make it much, much worse.

Either way, you benefit!

Or you can use recapitulation to recover your lost energy, so that it's no longer an issue. With all of your energy recovered, your eyes can see so much more of what's really going on.

Theoretically you could then just ask the double to stop making you feel that way, and you might visibly see him by the bed, standing there.

I have many times!

Anyway, sorcery is not "safe" and "cozy".

That's the price we pay.

But rock climbing is less safe, and it's certainly not "cozy" clinging to cracks to avoid plummeting to your death.

We all have, perhaps, wrong expectations about what magical systems out to feel like, due to con artist meditation systems who want as many customers as possible, so they tell everyone it's all pleasant and peaceful.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1739867/

Is a really great study on how 17 hours with no sleep reduces cognitive function to same as being drunk.

[-]
u/danl999 16 points 2022-09-21 22:11

Tell that to navy seals.

Or to programmers who have an impossible deadline, and do work that requires the highest cognitive function possible for 16 hours a day, for weeks.

Also, normal life is extremely stressful and everyone is scatter brained from thinking all the time.

You'd be far better off to reduce that, than to maintain the status quo.

Anything that reduces that and gives you alternatives, is going to make you healthier.

Not sicker.

But, if you need all that sleep, I recommend you go the opposite.

Sleep 12 hours a day, and concentrate on going into dreaming directly from awake, the instant you get into bed.

It works. And part of the trick is the "extra sleep". It causes more dreams.

But it takes a while before "intent" builds up enough that you can find your hands in a dream every single night.

And you MUST, or that path won't work.

Unfortunately, "Four Gates Dreaming" makes you a bit grumpy and sullen.

It's not a "happy path". But at least you get to sleep a lot.

And then there's the recapitulation path.

That path only needs 2 hours a day of your time, and accomplishes everything that darkroom does, without the horribleness of forcing silence.

You still have to try to be silent, and only think of the memories, but the rhythmical head turning and breathing and remembering, moves the assemblage point down, and the silence comes by itself.

We have many paths to learn sorcery. If you don't like one, pick another and someone in here can help you with that.

There's also "the witch method", but I don't know anything about it.

Except that Cholita kicks my butt all over hell.

Literally, sometimes.

Well said. Just a show. I remember one guy he was full of some mysticism stories, from quantum physics to religions, and was spamming such talking constantly. And those stories was like a drug to him very visible. He thinks he is bothisatva and that he is manifesting everything. He used those stories to leave an impression to new people he met. I saw him once meditating without shirt in the city centre in most crowded area, sitting still on the pavement at the height of the eyes of the people so that nobody could miss that. And he is going to live in a cave off course, nobody is spiritual like him. What to say... i hope people see the truth.

[-]
u/danl999 5 points 2022-09-21 22:26

Yea, that guy on the road is such an obvious "bad player", it's sad to even think about it.

He didn't bother to figure out what he could learn from where. Just wanted the attention seeking of "going to india to find yourself".

Didn't care that he was wasting all that time, doing nothing but set himself up to brag about it later. Probably with the intent of stealing.

Didn't care that he could work a simple food industry job and buy a train ticket to get there much faster.

Because in fact, he had no place to go.

Most of the "Yogis" in caves in india are Ganga addicts.

They have great ganga there!

And there's not a single man you'd actually want to study with if you were honest about it.

He's all mental masturbation.

It's the opposite of putting in a big effort.

He skipped right to the attention seeking part.

[-]
u/IviBlue 2 points 2022-09-21 22:50

Exactly. I mention this subreddit to few people that are claiming to know stuff and was reading Castaneda but the answer was same "That's someone else's experiences and i don't like that" that doesn't make sense at all!

It's like that one book and one psychedelic drug on the festival they were years ago twisted their minds so much, this one is traveling by foot and the other one has already reached enlightenment and doesn't need anything anymore to do, his words.

u/danl999 4 points 2022-09-21 23:00

We'll be lucky if 1 in 200 who bothers to subscribe, puts in a sustained effort.

Even though if you put in an effort on this, you kick the Buddha's delusional butt very soon, and make any Yogi look like the total fraud they are.

So why are people attracted to things where if you read what they actually do, it doesn't even qualify as strong beginner level in here?

It's very puzzling to me.

You can read what the Buddha did, and what famous Yogis claim.

They do that with their eyes closed!

And it's delusional. Mistaking spirits for demons for example. Obviously not able to see them over and over, to figure out the obvious.

We do 100 times more than Yogis and Buddhists do, with our eyes open, walking around, completely sober.

AND, you can look in here, see how we do it, step by step, and verify others are finding that it works too.

AND, no one wants your money, and there's no organization to join or meet with.

The only "hitch" is finding the time to practice. Which really isn't more than you'd need to get a college degree at night.

Or as much as you'd spend shooting hoops with your buddies, if you enjoyed basket ball.

And yet it makes no difference to new people. Virtually all don't notice how different this place is.

I suppose what people want is an "endorsement". Without doing any work.

Not actual magic.

And even if they are so dishonest they'll simply "declare victory" and start confusing other people, it has to be with things that "could" have an endorsement, if they weren't too lazy to go where you can get that sort of thing.

We lost our only double being, Tony Karim, to that awful fraud the Dali Lama.

But it's for the best.

We really don't need any "Naguals" to worry about.

No other book can compare to the information on this forum, not any sankhya from a writer who has been meditating for 45 years. This informations are pure gold, concrete, verified, clear, and that's all I've been reading for a long time, nowhere else I found information and encouragement like in Castaneda's books and in the content on this forum, that's all we need.

[-]
u/danl999 7 points 2022-09-22 14:12

And if you do in fact need more, you'll be happy to know that Silent Knowledge Entities are inevitable.

You WILL get magical teachers.

Who they are, what they are, where they come from, we don't really know yet.

But Porfirio from the books is a good example, as are the talking lizards, and the moth that sends moth dust with human mushroom shapes, to tell you about those people.

And, dare I say it?

Maybe some of the incidents with don Juan in the books of Carlos, were actually a supernatural version of him born of the emanations themselves.

I see such beings all the time.

All they want to do is teach! And it's all real. Just perhaps not precisely what you interpret it to be.

Looks like the crosspost “Spiritual seeker who travelled more than 15000 km Switzerland to India by on Foot “ that this post contained was deleted on whatever other sub it was posted to. Had several thousand upvotes, a somewhat heated debate in comments, yet was deleted. Some subs/mods are baffling, but that is par-for-the-course on Reddit.

It was an

, travel-weary, dragging an overloaded piece of luggage behind him ON FOOT from Switzerland to India, where he hoped to join an ashram or learn from some Guru or something.
