“Darkroom gazing” without a darkroom? Is it possible?

I’m fairly new here and don’t have very much experience yet. I have roomates and getting the materials to make a darkroom isn’t something i can do atm. I was wondering if the activities in DRG can be done without a completely dark room. If not, i’ve always got lucid dreaming to do till my current situation changes

I also had trouble creating a dark room, so I taped over an old ski visor. It covers my eyes but leaves enough space for me open them, blink, etc. it works ok, though I still have to get the room as dark as possible or else a little bit of light leaks in. I think there’s a thread in the wiki about a similar setup where someone used welding goggles and foil tape, so there is precedent.

In general, you can always practice gazing even without a darkroom. But there are also some people who try blindfolds to imitate the darkness.

If it's just a matter of the darkroom having a few lighter spots but still being dark overall, try a hoodie by pulling the hood over your head and down to your nose. In a way which doesn't interfere with breathing.

These masks are clearly the best solution for anyone in this situation. I personally just received my Justa blind sports mask yesterday and it's perfect. I highly recommend it, OP. Instant darkroom wherever you want it, whenever you want it.

I practice my own in the shower. Shorter duration than I would like, but it's the best I can do with a family.

I bought this one although i have a darkroom. Litterally identical experience if not better. In the dark we use the second attention so no need to actually have eysight on the room to see its phantom copy.
