The Sorcery Lineage of Don Juan Matus & Carlos Castaneda

The purpose of this subreddit is to aid in the pragmatic application of the works of Carlos Castaneda, Florinda Donner, Taisha Abelar, & Carol Tiggs to how we experience existence. Core topics include: sorcery (a.k.a. the mastery of intent), awareness, & non-ordinary reality (magic). Here, you can: learn ABOUT sorcery, what has and has not worked over thousands of years, decide to empirically embark on your own "definitive journey," and altruistically document your challenges and discoveries.

FAQ Purpose of This Sub? Are You A Bad Player? Inventory Expert?

r/castaneda Rules

  1. Accounts newer than 10 days old cannot comment, and must reach 21 days before posting is allowed.

4 commenting upvotes (in any subreddit) are also required in order to post after those 21 days.

  2. Do your best to tag new posts with a relevant Flair category. Otherwise, select General Knowledge.
  3. Please be familiar with the terminology used in here before posting. See the Wiki's Terminology page

Astral Projection is the most problematic term, along with OBE. Please use Dreaming Double, or Dreaming Body instead.

  4. Any post that diverts away from the implied purpose of this sub, will be marked SPOILER or removed.

The stated purpose of this subreddit is to aid in restoring the reputation of Carlos Castaneda and the knowledge he imparted, by pragmatically applying that knowledge IN PRACTICE. This means that we are sticking to what really works, as proven by direct experience by long-practicing members.

  5. No low effort posting, pretending, or wasting people's time.

Especially problematic posts, ex. questions that could be answered by either practicing or by reading more posts or from the books, will be removed and users who make similar repeated posts will be banned for a minimum of 3 months. Pretend sorcery which does not emphasize silence, and is based only on thinking and mood, will not be tolerated.

  6. Self-centered promotion, jockeying for a "top-dog" position, & grandstanding are bannable behaviors.

Persons promoting behavior over effort to get silent and the necessity to move the assemblage point, and who won't give up that activity, are likely to be banned for a minimum of ONE YEAR.

  7. Those being overly disruptive will be temporarily or permanently banned, at the mods discretion.

This is a blanket rule, meant to give mods a more broadly applicable option for a ban or content removal. Banned users still have access to the subreddit, wiki, and all its resources (except the group chat).

  8. Please report content in violation of any of this subreddit's rules to the mods to be evaluated.

This will make it publicly unviewable until it can be assessed.

"intent comes to them only for something that is abstract. That's the safety valve for sorcerers; otherwise they would be unbearable. In your case, beckoning intent to resolve the conflict of your two minds, or to hear the voice of your true mind, is not a petty or arbitrary matter."

"The sorcerers of olden times, who gave us the entire format of sorcery, believed that there is sadness in the universe, as a force, a condition, like light, like intent, and that this perennial force acts especially on sorcerers because they no longer have any defensive shields."

"You have everything needed for the extravagant journey that is your life. I have tried to teach you that the real experience is to be a man, and that what counts is being alive; life is the little detour that we are taking now. Life in itself is sufficient, self-explanatory and complete."

"There is nothing more lonely than eternity. And nothing is more cozy for us than to be a human being. This indeed is another contradiction: How can man keep the bonds of his humanness and still venture gladly and purposefully into the absolute loneliness of eternity?"

"But when we try to pin down that other side the tonal gets hold of the baton, and as a director it is quite petty and jealous. It dazzles us with its cunningness and forces us to obliterate the slightest inkling of the other part of the true pair, the nagual"

it could be said that they intuit everything unerringly and accurately. Reading omens is commonplace for sorcerers. Mistakes happen only when personal feelings intervene and cloud the sorcerers' connecting link with intent.
